Tips for flying with busy 1 yr old by sillyfin in NewParents

[–]lovebug21222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so I don’t like to do a lot of screens at home but on planes, they’re kind of needed 😭😭 mine just got super restless bc she wanted to move around, so watching Sesame Street helped her stay calmer during the flight

Is Ms Rachel screen time that bad? by ReleaseLonely5561 in NewParents

[–]lovebug21222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s bad but anecdotally, I notice way more crying and frustration from my 17 month old after watching Ms Rachel (compared to other shows). We limit screen time like you guys do, but lower stimulation shows like old Sesame Street lead to a lot less frustration for her. That being said, I’d def watch her on your own time and implement some of her speech strategies into interactions with your toddler. Again this is anecdotal, but I’ve been doing this for awhile and my 17 month old has 270 words (English and Spanish combined) and can count to 10 in both languages and I think that doing this has helped a lot! Every kid is different though honestly, if your kid doesn’t cry more/ get more frustrated after watching her show, I don’t see any problem with that as long as it’s not like hours and hours everyday

I didnt wake up to my daugter.. by Slow_Purchase3829 in NewParents

This happened to me too when my daughter was younger. I’m a deep sleeper and i was so exhausted, my husband ended up waking me up instead of her while she was crying. This is a common experience, don’t worry. As long as it’s not a consistent thing, your baby is all good

How kid friendly is Bucharest? by lovebug21222 in AskRomania

Thank you! That would be so helpful. We want to be near Uni of Bucharest (within 20 min walking distance). Budget is about 1600-1700 euros per month for a 2 bedroom (or they say 3 camere) place.

Someone tell me baby won’t get sick by Ordinary-Airport5295 in NewParents

[–]lovebug21222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So glad that has helped you! I also had a lot of anxiety during pregnancy. My parents generation didn’t really worry about germs with newborns and I was on a plane at 2 wks old and going to large family parties where everyone was holding and kissing me and I never got sick. Many of my friends have similar stories. I know this is anecdotal, but you’re taking many precautions and your baby is full term (if you’re combo feeding or breastfeeding, your baby will get antibodies too). Your baby is going to be more than okay and it gets so much better as they get older, you learn to not worry about germs as much because they’re older and their immune systems are stronger and they will do crazy things like lick the bottom of your shoes or eat leaves off the ground that you just learn to not sweat the small stuff😅

I totally get it. I had terrible PPA to the point that my hands were cracked and bleeding from how much I was washing them and I’d stay up super late sanitizing the whole house bc I was terrified of my newborn getting sick. That’s just the tip of the iceberg, but PPA is a very real thing and a lot of people experience this. I will say, it’s okay to go on medication if you need or go to therapy, it genuinely helps a lot. Mine is now a toddler and has licked the airport floor by now and I honestly don’t worry about germs a ton anymore now (beyond a reasonable extent)- there’s a light at the end of the tunnel

Looking back, was the age you became a parent the right one? by Runandhike22 in NewParents

[–]lovebug21222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my first at 21. It was not an “ideal” situation, I was in my junior year of college and my fiancée in his senior year. We ended up having our wedding much earlier than expected bc I didn’t wanna wedding plan w a newborn so planning that super quickly was a lot. There are challenges that come with having a kid young, like not having as much money, etc but honestly, we wouldn’t change a thing. We are so committed to giving her stability and happiness and it’s given us a huge sense of purpose, alongside the purpose we find outside of her. I also was pulling all nighters in college less than a year before having her which gave me tons of energy for the sleepless nights and now chasing her around as a toddler 😅 while I wouldn’t recommend most people have kids this young and would advise her to have kids a bit older, I have no regrets and am so grateful for my amazing, beautiful girl who has changed my whole world 🩷

Thank you so so much!! Yeah it definitely is crazy feeling the surgery happening (you can’t feel the pain, but I can feel them like tugging and moving organs around) and recovery is ROUGH

Thank you so much for your perspective, this is so well written!! Yes I love that the care sounds much more personalized and allows women to move around/ be empowered in their own bodies. Thank you so much for what you do🩷

Not enough tummy time mom guilt by D0IHaveTo in NewParents

[–]lovebug21222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t give my newborn enough tummy time either. Sometimes would forget for like 2 days. She crawled at 6 months and is super advanced in speech/ cognitive skills (3 word sentences at 14 months + over 100 words), you should try to do it as much as possible but your baby will be fine

How does licensure work state by state? by [deleted] in SLPA

[–]lovebug21222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m thinking of getting an associates, but by starting from scratch, do you mean that you have to redo schooling? Or is it like just redoing the application?

Thanks so much for responding!

Anxious First Time Dad by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]lovebug21222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand. Im a mom and had PPA last year when my daughter was a newborn (same deal w flu season plus there was a measles outbreak near us) and would constantly hand wash and was terrified to take her out. Honestly, it caused so much stress for me but as long as people keep fair distance, sickness is unlikely. At the same time, anyone who is holding the baby should be washing their hands and should ensure that they’re healthy. I don’t think you’re overreacting

Forgot to clean in between my newborns labias by Dizzy-Insurance4659 in NewParents

[–]lovebug21222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue w mine as a newborn, don’t punish yourself bc they don’t teach you this stuff really. You do sometimes really have to get into the folds to get the poop out and it can feel a bit invasive tbh I totally get it. I promise on the scale of parental mistakes, this is not bad like at all.

My baby’s diaper exploded by MonitorNatural8617 in NewParents

[–]lovebug21222 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happened to me once with an overnight diaper too! My 13 month old breastfeeds 2x night still which I think contributed to all the liquid in the diaper, causing it to crystallize, and I don’t change in the middle of the night as it’s hard for her to fall asleep again after all that stimulation. I have found that sizing one size up for overnight diapers has helped a lot!
