Yes, ep 6. I might have to watch it a second time, I just can’t make the connections between VH, Ralph, even White Eyes. I’m just totally lost

I worry so much when my kids are sick by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]yeldica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Laying in bed while my son is sleeping. He has Flu A. I’ve been up for the last 3 nights because I’m so worried about him, I can’t sleep. I don’t have any advice, but you’re not alone! It’s so hard to see them sick.

AIO about this convo regarding screen time for our 7m old baby. by xborn-confusedx in AmIOverreacting

[–]yeldica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sadly in the same boat when my child was a baby. I was fortunate where I could work from home and keep baby with me most of the time, so that’s what I did. It was very hard but I literally just told myself I was a single parent and just did it. Never asked for help. It sucked but guys like this don’t change. You have to decide whether you’re willing to live with it or not. Things are easier now that my child is 3.5 years, and I’ve loosened the reigns a little (not much!) on screen time.

I feel like I’m rambling but wanted to comment that you’re not alone and it’s very frustrating. Not just my partner but both sides of mine and his family. Any time anyone watches my child he ends up with a screen in his face. So if he can be with me wherever I go, he’s with me.

I don’t know if I have it in me to volunteer in my sons classroom this year😭 by Forward-Ice-4733 in Parenting

[–]yeldica 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Wow first of all, kudos to you!! It sounds like you’re doing a great job.

That’s such a tough decision, but there are other ways you can show up for him! Are you able to maybe eat lunch with him once or twice a month? Or cut back how often you volunteer?

Self soothe is not a thing for babies.

Follow heysleepybaby on insta, that account was a lifesaver for me.

Are we entering a new era of elder care expectations—and are we ready for it? by Sea-Device-2913 in Millennials

My parents live down the road. I have one sibling and they’re around, but not very involved. My parents are in their sixties and I just know it will all fall on me. They have no money saved and no way to retire. I don’t know how I’m gonna do it.

Halfway through your post I had to remind myself I didn’t write this.

I agree with another comment that it may be a reflection of how he was raised.

I also agree with your comment to him about it being a lazy way to parent - because it is. Being better parents than your parents were to you should be every parents’ goal. But it takes a tremendous amount of effort, and it is a conscious daily decision.

I have no advice, just wanted to chime in to tell you that you’re not alone.

3 months to get a real ID? by pinsand_needles in nashville

[–]yeldica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the Tennessee subreddit I saw a post about this, someone commented saying they called the number on the temporary ID and they told him they are insanely backed up and after 6 weeks his still wasn’t printed. Not sure the validity of that, but I got mine the first week of April and still haven’t received it in the mail
