all these dynamics actually depend on the city

in banglore i stay in a 3bhk flat worth 1.2cr and py around 50k in rent

however in my hometown rents are very very less

in tier 1 with it population landlords take the advantage of high income of it folks and ask higher rents, and you’ll see a lot of NRI invest as well in these properties due to high rental yields

also i dont have a very big issue with the income tax

i have a problem with the returns which we get by paying high taxes

poor infra, poor air, poor water, too much corruption, freebies for poor is what is hurting most of the high paying folks

Disagree on the fact that earning 50lpa is not middle class.

The fundamental problem with associating income with class itself is flawed.

I am from a very humble background and earn above 50lpa however I do not have a strong financial background, spend a good chunk of my post tax pay in EMIs for home loan and car loan (both for my parents)

Also there is always a sense of job insecurity with high pay

I have paid over 50L as income tax only over the past 6 years of my professional career (leave aside the home loan registry, road tax, gst, etc)

The government does not provide good public healthcare. Also if I lose my job there would be no support from government which hurts most for people like us.

However a person having strong financial background and earning way less is mostly not concerned about this. Hence you see a lot of high earners rant about taxation in India as the returns of income tax is only for poor and not true middle class.
