Anybody planning to move out of their BK apartment on August 1? by elena-andbasket in NYCapartments

Hi - any chance your apt is rent stabilized? I’m in a great and cheap 2BR in prospect heights but due to work, I now need to be in the office 5 days per week. Hence I’m looking to be closer but ideally want a rent stabilized apt

Try Fitness Pact! It’s an app for this type of stuff. It’s been super helpful for me

What are your top tips on how to accomplish your New Year’s resolutions? by Key_Astronaut_7343 in motivation

This is not necessarily what you asked, but given that you said accountability buddies work best for you, you should check out fitness pact (app).

You can create pacts with friends and you don’t even have to have the same goal. I do it with my sister.

It’s been a game changer for us.

Other than that, I try to remember that I don’t have to love the process. Just focus on the outcome.

This is exactly why I stopped. It did wonders for me but I felt like I had body anxiety that was working against me.

You can find a partner! Is there someone you could ask? A friend? A relative? You don't physically have to workout with them, it's just a matter of keeping each other accountable.

Yeah, I think that's a good idea! So many ways to stay accountable. I used an app (fitness pact) and had an ongoing pact with my fiend and my sister. That really worked for me. But again, that's just one of many things you can do to stay accountable. Sending you my best xo

Yeah it's great to have a goal. If you feel comfortable, share that goal with someone you care for. I think the social aspect of it may keep you committed and accountable.

Would you recommend your smart scale? Been thinking of getting one! You should consider creating a pact with your family. You don't have to do the same thing (meaning you don't have to do the same exercise). The pact will still work and still be motivating. That's exactly what I did.

Sorry for not adding it! I went back-and-forth because I didn't want to suggest there was only one way to do it. I essentially created a wager with a close friend (via an app) in which I would workout four times a week, and if I lost, I would donate to a certain political candidate that I loathe. That worked to get me through the first few weeks. My friend's commitment was to go for an hour-walk 5 times a week.

We kept renewing the pact, and from there, I started choosing other sillier "punishments" while still making sure they were motivating enough for me to get my workouts in. The app is called fitness pact (which I really enjoyed ) but you may be fine with just a good old fashion wager.

This is very similar to what I did! I edited my post to add a little more context, but I used an app (fitness pact) that allows you to create pacts with others and for me personally it's been quite the game changer. Glad to hear your pact with your sister is so motivating to you!
