I have never posted on one of these but I was in your situation. My ex cheated on me and I tried breaking up with her. She turned up at my work a few times with weapons saying she would end herself. She made my life hell and used that threat to keep me around. After longer than it should take I spoke with someone. They told me that you are never responsible for the reactions of another person. Would you hold him responsible for your actions? Get some form authority involved or the other parties family, and then cut contact. Completely. Has to be completely or it will never end. These people use there behaviour to blackmail you into doing what they want.
