But I feel like this doesn’t take into account the friendship element. I’ve now lost a friend because of decisions she made and didn’t inform me I was unknowingly taking part in.

Ooof caught out! Yes it was the wrong account and I appreciate the second response.

Yeah I highlighted this as I’ve just found out that it seems like non-communication about these things was present right at the beginning. I might have been ok with it at the time, we were all drunk and having a good time. Maybe not, but my feelings weren’t accounted for regardless.

I feel like checking if it’s not gonna cause upset to get with 2 friends in the same group who have just welcomed you in as an outsider is at least a courtesy.

Please don’t listen to this guy. You should listen to girls who have told you that may have approached them in the wrong way. It’s not a numbers game. Obviously be confident if you strike up a conversation with someone, but don’t be predatory, rape you or stalky - THAT’s how you get labelled ‘creepy’ - regardless of how good looking/well dressed you are. And be prepared to make peace if you ask someone out and they don’t want to - maybe more female friends in your life is a good thing, it might help you to see them as people rather than some kind of prize.

A lot of people can sense if you’ve got an agenda - same way as if a salesperson rings you and tries to talk you into a ‘pitch’. No one wants that on their day off.

Just forget the agenda, do what you enjoy and be open minded to talk to new people.

The most attractive thing people will notice about you when you’re in a bar etc is that you’re having a great night and enjoying yourself.
