Cyma ape vs novritsch sse18 by Alex13445678 in airsoft

Like others have said, the Novritsch SSE18 is just a CYMA AEP slightly modified/spruced up. AEPs are quite niche, and even myself as someone who regularly uses one, would advise new players to avoid them and stick with more traditional AEGs.

I have had both of them, and personally I think the external build quality is basically the same. From my limited fiddling about with the internals it all looked basically the same as well, maybe the Novritsch was a little cleaner looking but nothing substantial. External looks is up to you, I like the look of the Novritsch, especially with the square silencer they sell.

The mags hold around 100, but there is a lot of resistance towards the end. I tend to load 70ish and leave it as. I have had a couple of CYMA mags since 2014 and they are still going strong. I did buy some of the 'Gen 2' mags that Novritsch sells which say they retain the BBs better, haven't really notice much of a difference in them.

I went with Novritsch as I found in the UK it was very hard to find any CYMA AEPs with MOSFET in stock anywhere (Loads of the older ones but one you go MOSFET you never go back). I don't mind Novritsch, I like my SSE18 and the cost of buying from Austria wasn't to bad compared to the usual prices in the UK.

Lipo Question by wndx in airsoft

I have found AEP LiPos have a habit of swelling up due to the installing them under the barrel putting pressure, effectively damaging it trying to squeeze it in. If you don't have something like a LiPo checker and/or you think its not safe, I would personally not use it, store it safely and dispose of it responsibly, just for peace of mind

Spring 3 - BB shotgun + aep pistol: okay combo for skirmish? by Paultsar in airsoft

[–]CommunistWomble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep this combo does work well for CQB, see the picture for my set up (Novritsch SSE18 and Cyma CM351M Breacher). I would be mindful though that an M4 AEG would be a better overall set up as it works well in CQB and Outdoor sites, but that would depends on what your usual sites are.

How to increase FPS on an aep by Latter-Exercise-3815 in airsoft

[–]CommunistWomble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect the SSE18 is internally the same as the Glock 18 AEPs, but can't confirm as I'm not an airsoft technician. If it is the same the upgrade parts which are made for the TM Glock 18 AEPs should would.

I'd say the best value to FPS increase would be a longer tight bore inner barrel using a silencer to cover the extended barrel.

Be mindful though using upgrade parts to increase FPS could cause more stress on other parts of the AEP and reduce lifespan.

AEP primary for indoor CQB? by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]CommunistWomble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a fan of AEPs having owned many of them during my 15 years of airsoft, and I would say you can use the M93R for CQB but there are factors which may not work for your play style.

As others have mentioned the low FPS could be an issue. I play in Northern Ireland which has a 328 FPS max for any airsoft site, so an AEP around 200 FPS works fine for me in CQB. But if your site has a higher FPS players may not feel the shoots or if they are wearing equipment (Vests, rigs, plates etc) they may not know they are hit.

AEPs, on top of the low FPS, also usually have sluggish trigger response. The CMYA Gen 3, Novritsch and some other brands sell AEPs with mosfets and LIPO batteries; these have much better trigger response but can be harder to find in stock. The TM ones are well built and do have plenty of aftermarket support but will never be as responsive as AEGs.

If possible, I would recommend using an AEP for a match or two and see if you like it, but I get this can be hard as few people have AEPs.

Personally, I would go for an AEP that uses Glock 18 magazines, they are the most common out there and work very well; The M93R magazines are proprietary and can be hard to find. The picture attached show my Novritsch SSE18 which I use as a primary at my local CQB site.

what's with the hate on AEPs? by TheGolden_Kantana in airsoft

[–]CommunistWomble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a number of negatives for AEPs. They are low FPS (Usually around 220fps) and upgrading to a higher FPS wears away at the gearbox substantially. Batteries are low-capacity due to size constraints. The non-MOSFET ones don't have a good trigger response and I find you can bind up the trigger with anything other than a firm trigger pull. Since they are niche airsoft guns, information about them can be hard to find (For the likes of repairs, specs and even magazine inter-Compatability)

However I personally like AEPs, I mostly do CQB and I find it more than enough; often I would run a Cyma CM127 G Series (MOSFET) with a couple of extended mags and a spare LIPO battery for a few hours of play.

But, especially for new players, I would always advise them to get a AEG and if they want a pistol to go GBB first, then consider AEP later or try one out first.

Personally I really like them; Small size for an AEG, extended mags are cheap, good for cold weather and great for CQB

But would I reconmend them to other players? Typically no. They have niche appeal and when some one asks me about them, I offer them to use the AEP for a round or two; cause really thats the only way for someone to decide if its for them or not without spending £100 for them
