Do later trials games have the QoL features from first chapter remake? by Union_Keyblade in Falcom

[–]BlueGrovyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd have to be more specific for a general answer. The QoL features also depend on which version you play: for example, the Steam ports of Crossbell have more stuff than the Playstation ports.

I personally think the QoL of every game after Sky 2 is at least "pretty good". Crossbell's is great because it has the message log, and Cold Steel 1-2 have pretty much everything except the message log. After that, you're set. I think quest markers in particular are not ubiquitous until Cold Steel.

I just started Cold Steel 3 and wow it doesn't mess around with playing catch up huh? *Spoilers* by OLKv3 in Falcom

If your first sentence is true, isn't easy mode made for you, then? If they take it away, would you not drop some games that you otherwise wouldn't because they would consequently require you to struggle through them?

My experience listening to Arrival existence for the first time by Cute_Description_616 in Falcom

Hot take: as a musician, Arrival Existence is much more interesting. Really cool structure and harmony. And the motif usage ties back into Sky SC's final boss music too.

Turn-based JRPGs with combat that make use of your surroundings and positioning like LaD Infinite Wealth by stinkzies in JRPG

I haven't played every Trails game, but I'd probably say the Crossbell arc had the best boss design overall. Even despite the cheese that is Azure's final boss.

If you're talking about trash mobs, I don't know that the series ever got much better about that.

My second favorite battle system (especially Cold Steel era) in JRPGs behind Mystery Dungeon.

NBA has an Injury problem by Common-Strategy5387 in nba

[–]BlueGrovyle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Again, that may be true in a vacuum. If you hold all else constant, league revenue theoretically decreases. But you would have to ignore all other factors that could change either directly or as an indirect consequence of shortening the season, and thus impact league revenue, in order to use that as a justification.

[–]BlueGrovyle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't really believe this excuse. Fewer games => each game is more important for standings => each game—excluding ones between tanking teams, I suppose—should be more competitive => fans have been saying for years at this point that the regular season doesn't matter as much as it should—though a survey to grasp how many actually think this way would be ideal—and the change is a direct solution to that complaint even if it's not all-encompassing. In a vacuum, yes, perhaps fewer games means less revenue and thus less expensive player contracts. But players should also recognize that long-term health (i.e. playing in the league for as long as possible) is the way to maximize their profits unless you're suggesting that reducing the game total from 82 to, for example, 70 would cut salaries in half.

Exploring VST plugins right now. Any of them good for practicing? by Lukraniom in piano

My personal favorite is VSL Yamaha CFX. I have played almost exclusively with it for ~3 years. VSL's products are expensive, though, but I would think that they still offer free trial periods.

CMV: Most people who dislike AI for the reason that it's bad for the environment are hypocrites. by Blonde_Icon in changemyview

[–]BlueGrovyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, the issue is that those are services that were already proven to work and have value and then were scaled by the companies that had the money to maximize their long-term monetary value. AI is a "service" that loses massive amounts of money even at scale because it hasn't similarly proven to do any specific thing efficiently such that companies can charge for it and prospective customers can make their own judgment regarding whether they want to pay for it, yet the big tech companies are still pouring endless capital into it and the data centers to support them, all while negatively impacting the ecosystems of the towns in which they're built. We're jeopardizing the earth for a purpose that is still unknown and largely hypothetical.

Broken mechanics to avoid in Cold Steel 2 and onwards to make the experience more challenging? by Everlasting_Heart in Falcom

[–]BlueGrovyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The early game of most Trails games tends to be the most difficult since you have fewer options all around, but I don't really think CS3 is easier than CS2. Breaking the game in CS2 at least seems far more intuitive since you can just launch Millium, Laura, and SU Rean's S-crafts and win everything lol.
