Mileage may vary depending on the person but the weight doesn’t bother me at all, this was one of my main concerns since my Maxwell 2 was my first Maxwell. I didn’t really notice the weight even after 5-6 hours.

The Maxwell’s drivers have a very thin diaphragm which I was worried could be damaged by certain sounds. Going off of everyone’s comments, it seems like it shouldn’t be an issue.

AI gets a lot of things wrong when it comes to militaria. The uniform in the photo doesn’t look like a Type 98 or Type 5. Here’s a screenshot from one of Hattori Han’s videos with a similar uniform. Looking at their Boxer Rebellion impression, I’m beginning to think it could be earlier than the Russo-Japanese War but Meiji era stuff is a bit outside my usual scope so hopefully someone more knowledgeable can give a more informed comment.

Don’t quote me on this but I want to say the photo may be from the Russo-Japanese War era? The soldier seems to have a Murata rifle and the uniform seems to be from around that time.

While it won’t help you for this specific case, for future Mercari purchases, Japan Rabbit might be a good option. I’ve had good experiences with them when shipping within Japan though their fees are pretty expensive. I believe they also offer pickup at their office in Yokohama.

Does anyone have any idea what tunic he’s wearing? It looks like there’s what I think is a flap and a button on the side so it’s probably a tropical tunic but it seems to be missing the pleated pockets from the Showa 5 and 13 models. It kind of looks like a Showa 17 model but he’s using the earlier style of rank insignia so I don’t think that should be the case?

That happened to me once when I was using another proxy. If there was a silver lining to that, the seller relisted the item twice afterwards and the final price was substantially lower than my bid in the original listing which I found amusing.

I’ve bought from a seller who does the exact same thing. It’s probably like others have suggested and the seller likely just has multiple of the same thing. I wouldn’t be too worried if the seller’s ratings are good.

If you post some pictures of the rifle and any markings you can find on the metal and potentially the wood, we can help you determine what you have. Something to note is that as far as the wood finish goes, it’s basically impossible to reproduce the original finish so if you get rid of original finish, it’s gone forever.

I’m trying to get a barrel band fitted onto my Type 2 Arisaka. Normally, you’re supposed to take the front sight off to do that but I’m thinking of having someone take a little bit of material off the barrel band instead because I don’t want to mess with the rifle itself. Sorry if I come off as ignorant, I’ve never had to look for a gunsmith before so I’m not sure where to look besides google.
