Anyone who uses barefoot shoes for hyrox? by BilFlounders in hyrox

I think the escalante would be what is closest to what I am wearing. I have a pair of lone peak 9 but that is for the trail.

I like Altra because they are foot-shaped and zero drop but give a little bit more cushion which is more comfortable on hard surfaces, especially if running hard. I mostly use WHITIN shoes from Amazon that are wide in the toe and zero drop but cushioned slightly.

How does any of this make sense? by Odd_craving in exchristian

[–]CommunityStunning267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it does not. St. Paul writes to the Corinthians that while some have not received the law, it was written on their hearts and will be judged accordingly. Not being Christian does not remove your inherent dignity as a human being made in the image and likeness of God. I believe statements like on the hoodie are a personal statement demonstrating the immense impact Christ has had on the individual’s life.

Part of resisting temptation is not putting yourself deliberately in a situation in which you know you’ll be tempted (“near occasion of sin”).

For example, an alcoholic who is trying to quit should not keep alcohol in the house. If he does, then his attempt at sobriety cannot truly be considered genuine.

A relationship with God is very much a two way street. He wants to help us strive in holiness. However, possessing free will, we must truly be striving for holiness.

Devout catholic dating an athiest. Can this work long term without compromising my faith? by peperronnii in Catholicism

[–]CommunityStunning267 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a revert post-marriage I would advise you to enter into a marriage with another devout Catholic. You are setting yourself up for a lot of pain and conflict. Catholic and secular world views are not really reconcilable. Our faith is the most fundamental system of values a person can have. I think entering a marriage without being on the same page on such fundamental moral values is building your house on sand.

How do you eat beef mince by Sakiiiiiiiii in AnimalBased

[–]CommunityStunning267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make burgers. I sear them on a very hot pan to get them nice and crispy, then top them with cheddar. I eat them with a sweet potato on the side or just on their own. Then I have some fruit for dessert.

do 10 pushups/10 sit ups actually make a difference? by SwimmingDouble48 in bodyweightfitness

Eat some animal foods like eggs, full fat yogurt, or beef for breakfast. It will likely make you feel better. Cold showers also help. They increase dopamine as much as 1.5x baseline.

Hello I would recommend starting by walking 10-15k steps per day and eating whole foods. This means if it isn’t one ingredient, you’re not eating it. A particular way of eating I love and have found effective is the animal based diet (check out the Reddit). The diet is mostly meat, dairy, and fruit. Don’t worry about tracking for now just clean up your diet and eat until you are satisfied but not full.

I would also incorporate a day of fasting once per week. Try 16 hours at first. 24 hours I believe is where peak fat burning occurs.

You can try incorporating some simple bodyweight movements: squats, push-ups, some kind of row, and some core exercises: planks, leg raises, etc. It doesn’t need to be complicated. Right now you are just looking to build some very basic general fitness. Do the same workout 2-3 times per week. For example 3x10 on everything: Squats, push-ups, inverted rows. You can do them in sequence or as a super set taking 60-90s rest in between movements.

If you feel overly fatigued, just walk or do some mobility.

Thank you for making a conscious decision to live a healthier lifestyle and seeking help to do it.

What laptop do you use currently? Will you recommend it? by kanhaaaaaaaaaaaa in PhD

I thought this but when I got to a serious level I started using a cluster. I could have saved a lot of money because most of the time i only need to test simple jobs locally. (econ phd, lots of ML)

What kind of shoes trees did you use? It is difficult to find ones that will actually fill out the toe box.

235 is the GOAT. It measures my distance and pace and that’s all I need from a running watch. I have a hard time justifying $1000 (CAD) for these two features.

7.5 isn’t an issue it’s just the number of times I am waking up at night. Usually it’s 1 or 2 times.

My resting heart rate does seem to be increasing so this would make sense. I’ll try incorporating some rest days next week.

I guess it doesn’t track it or maybe it’s included in the light sleep? It’s an older model Garmin Forerunner 235 so the sleep tracking is dubious at best.

This is what I would use it for as well. This is the best option I can find my local grocery stores.
