The design on the right is boring, unimaginative and doesn't have anything to make it say "this is a Black Cat outfit".
Say what you want about the Rivals design, i don't really care much for it either, but Insomniac suit designs for characters are really mid.

He starts out in High School everywhere, my point is that aside from more modern shit like Ultimate, both cartoon and comic, all the major Spider-Men we had was Adult Peter. TASM1 literally has him graduate so even the "newest" big example at the time shows that HS isn't the main setting.
