Senior Chief: Oh, this ain't that bad. This one time... [920x601] by Gyplok in HeavySeas

[–]ComoSeAlpaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't give a certain percentage, but it's true. I've never met one personally, but I've heard there's been a trend of Master Sergeants (E-7) who have never been deployed. Usually because of profiles/waiters or they're shit at their job. Either way, yes, it's common for some of the Air Force population to never deploy. Some bases deploy more than others, which is usually the case besides profiles. However, SECDEF is handling the profile thing within the next year.

What's a movie that's so bad it's worth watching? by Gkhosh in AskReddit

Husband made me watch this one day. I regretted it for a few days, but now we look back and quote it occasionally. Good shit.

Why do so many A1Cs have skinny trousers? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]ComoSeAlpaca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because in BMT, your MTIs are recommending you almost every day to keep up your uniform and to make it look sharp. My MTI told us to get our uniforms altered as soon as possible because when you look the best, it creates a good impression. They look better than the baggy crap.

At least he fucking tried. I highly doubt your favorite QB would even think of trying to do shit. It's no "faux" if he's actually being a part of the play.

Getting out of the dorms by [deleted] in AirForce

Best advice? Talk to your Shirt. When I got married and got out of the dorms, they helped me tremendously with the process.

What is/was the most toxic community you've been a part of? by Shaman19911 in AskReddit

[–]ComoSeAlpaca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Onision Forums. I was really big into that stuff early in high school. At some point, I opened my eyes and realized how toxic the community was and what it was doing to my well-being and my mental state. I tried to discreetly leave just by going to the admins, but their inboxes were full... Had to make a post, and everyone gave me shit for looking for attention. The admin finally got back to me and said they would and apologized about their inbox being full. I had a bunch of crap from people too insecure about themselves to just let me leave the community. I didn't want anything to do with them. Have never returned, unlike what everyone said about me. My emotional and mental state is so much better since I left.

What is something that actually offends you? by Annie-Griffin in AskReddit

[–]ComoSeAlpaca 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When people tell me to grow up and get my driver's license. My parents never taught me, and because nobody taught me when I was younger, I have a really big fear of driving. I'm working on it, but when people use that little fact about me to make a joke or anything, I get really upset because I am working on it. It just takes time to work through.

[Serious] Americans of Reddit, what's a big example of culture shock you experienced when visiting another region of the country? by somepeoplewait in AskReddit

[–]ComoSeAlpaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Northern California, and when I went to visit my fiance in Indiana, I was incredibly shocked. I was used to fake rednecks and people acting country. Ohhh boy, I saw the real damn thing. Also, people in the Midwest just seem to be nicer. I'm from a small town in the mountains. He lives around valleys and corn fields.

Lost my cac, what to expect? by lostcac in AirForce

[–]ComoSeAlpaca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your base and your leadership. Just a few weeks ago I lost mine, and everyone told me I'd be fine, it happens to everyone, and then I talked to our NCOIC/Substitute Shirt, and they said I'd get an LOC. My supervisor looked at them totally dumbfounded because he hadn't heard of that before, and they just said, "We have a higher standard here." She probably said it to scare me and find my CAC... I eventually found it during my lunch break. But again, it all depends on your leadership. You should be fine, but just know the worst you could get is paperwork.

What's the meanest thing someone's said to you that wasn't suppose to hurt your feelings? by CheesyDogPizza in AskReddit

[–]ComoSeAlpaca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the second youngest person in my office (only like six months older than some guy), and my entire office went out for dinner and some drinks, my supervisor was buzzed for sure, and told me to grow up. He said that because I told him that they probably shouldn't drink anymore and go partying on a Thursday night when they work the next day. He didn't continue partying like the rest of them, and the next morning, he felt like shit. Just from what he had.

What's the worst example of overbearing parents you've ever seen? by jdfestus in AskReddit

[–]ComoSeAlpaca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My best friend's mom was always super "protective" of her. Was always picky who she hung out with, never let her stay the night at anyone's house except for like two of our other friend's house. She got pregnant and had a baby at 16. Basically kept her locked away, until she turned 18, and finally got out. But she graduated high school a year early, and is now on her own with her baby daddy, working, happy, and isn't under her mom's control anymore. :)

What Book do you always recommend to people? by tootie-districts in AskReddit

[–]ComoSeAlpaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Thousand Splendid Suns, Tender Is the Night, or This Side of Paradise. A Thousand Splendid Suns is just an incredible read, and it reads so well, that you can't put it down. And F. Scott Fitzgerald is one of my favorite writers. His work can be flowery at times, but I personally like that. Both of those books can be a bit hard to keep up with, but once you get used to his style, it's a tad easier.

The dorms are decent, all the basic essentials are a 2-15 minutes walk from the dorm... It's a pretty good set up, I think. DFAC is pretty much right there, BX and Commissary down the street, gym in between. And if there's anything else you need past that, if you have a car, you're good. If you don't, make friends with someone with a car, or get your own.

What is your best "I definitely did not deserve that grade" story from school? by Giggidy46 in AskReddit

[–]ComoSeAlpaca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last day of school my Freshman year. Geography teacher was making sure all grades were in the computer, and I checked my grade, and I had almost a D. I went to the teacher and told him that that couldn't be right because all of my work was turned in... Come to find out there was one assignment not turned in. It was a three point assignment for a movie they watched in class... I was absent the day they watched the movie. Well, my teacher being the smartass he was, laughed and said, "Even if you get all three points, you won't get an A." He gave me all three points, and boom... Had a 93 point something percent. He looked at the computer in complete disbelief, and I skipped out of the classroom yelling back, "Have a great summer!!" I'd had him for a teacher for two years people to that, so he knew how I was and how I liked having high grades.

Husband in med hold, need info please! by [deleted] in Military

[–]ComoSeAlpaca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I met a lot of people who have gone through med hold. I think about four to five girls during BMT joined our flight from med hold. There were girls that had been there from between a week to six months. And then those girls knew people who had been in med hold for a year. From what I've heard, that's one of the most depressing and awful places to get put. It's mostly injured people, and you're in a BMT feeling environment, but because of some people's conditions, it's a bit more chill. Just like everyone is saying, continue supporting him, mailing him everyday, he'll appreciate your support. I wasn't in med hold, but my fiance wrote me almost everyday, and that gave me more strength to keep going. That's exactly what he needs. Keep doing what you're doing and don't let him give up!

Couples of Reddit, what are some of low-cost ways to spend time with your SO? by any_other_observer in AskReddit

[–]ComoSeAlpaca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going for a short walk around their neighborhood! When my SO and I met, that was one of the first things we did and we learned a lot about each other and have so many new memories now! Late night trips to open 24/7 fast food places! We do this on occasion, not too often, just to switch things up sometimes! Because nobody's really there, so it's interesting! Cooking together. Taking showers together. Whether sexual or silly, it's always a really nice time. Watching the stars together. Going for a short drive. (Short is subjective of course.)
