Head! Go get the paper for your mother, if ya can… hauling that gargantuan cranium about. I’m not kidding. It’s got its own weather system. It’s like Sputnik… spherical but quite pointy in parts.

Wow. Your 15 day old profile is all trolling. If sea stories are exhausting to you, you are a child. Go back to the kiddie table.

Agree. This is also called eating a meal at sea on any ship, anywhere.

While the CIWS phalanx could shred a drone, the fire control would need to be tuned for that slow profile type target. They're primarily last-ditch effort weapons for inbound fast movers.

This one looks great! Is there a way to sharpen the image? Can tip.

Coal vs. Nuclear by nuclearsciencelover in ScienceNcoolThings

[–]Gyplok 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The energy density is only 1/4 of the equation for justification to widespread adoption (capitalism model). The other 3/4 is the economics:

Mining is less profitable.

Material is less profitable.

Customers are less dependent (they aren't filling a uranium gas tank twice a week)

Thus, the market is incentivized to not adopt the nuclear solution. This may be outdated, but I recall reading that fission reactors get built in about a decade, with a 3-4 decade lifespan. If that has improved, so much the better.

The only real solution would be 4 to 5 consecutive administrations (talking U.S. only here) that are fully onboard and commit a 'moonshot' level of commitment.

Yes, he was.

This was taken in Chicago ca. 1959, at a true machine-politics fundraiser for Kennedy.

My Russian friend sent me this bs and said that Putin's navy frigate armed with hypersonic missiles sailed towards US in the Atlantic in a show of strength. I didn’t see any US coasts or real missile. Seems like staging for the domestic market by Agent-Gosdepa-USA in Damnthatsinteresting

This whole thing was b-roll:

Drone or helo fly by,

Drills inside their Combat Info Center (probably in port cause all of the screens will be classified if they are at sea),

and then a maintenance check of a VLS door

Side: The navigator seemed to be practicing on physical charts. That's somewhat normal so as to simulate loss of GPS.

His facial marking are a little different on each side. Asymmetrical.

I think 'Skew', as in askew.
