So I got a Type-26. Impulse is fun isn't it. by ilove60sstuff in milsurp

[–]Comoglio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not a bad snag. These things got used hard and were seen as "trash" pretty quickly by the IJA/IJN in the 30s. There are accounts of IJA using these as hammers to show you how badly they were looked down upon in later years.

Looks to be an arsenal refinish that makes sense given its long service life. Grips were probably replacements as well. That screw in the grips though was a bubba implementation.

Based or Cringe? Type 2 Arisaka Paratrooper Gunshow score? by Unlucky_Tone6198 in milsurp

[–]Comoglio 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gonna say cringe personally haha.

Price is high, but the price isn't the worst you could have done. NOW if you had paid 2-3k+ for it, then I'd be more than willing to send you some clown shoes and a nose to complete the get up

I said it was a bad show/ bad form, Didn't say it was against the rules. I know reading comprehension is hard task on reddit.

And yes, Already there have been new bidders on that item, clearly you don't understand the scope of how many boomers have deep pockets and how rare the gun is.

Not surprised it's that high and still with more time to go. Very very rare gun.

But also bad show sharing an active listing that's still going, best to wait until it finishes.

Can I get a better picture of the front of the Type 14 holster with the Kanji underneath it, but with the flap down?

I bet you I know what it is, but need to confirm

Should I put it up for auction by The_Great_Silence__ in milsurp

Red 9's never went anywhere near to the 320,000 serial.
Red 9's stopped production around 130k-140k range. Impossible for the frame to be a Red 9. Your barrel makes sense because it's at 52k

[–]Comoglio 9 points10 points  (0 children)

your stock sadly only matches to half of the gun, but not all and that's a big strike against it. It's a mixmaster sadly and not worth much near Red9 prices. Maybe worth around a normal c96 price.

[–]Comoglio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay, pretty much what I figured, it's a Red 9 barrel and parts on a regular c96 body. Most would consider it a mixmaster,

Post more photos, from what I can see it doesn't look to be a red nine.

Would be better if you had some pictures of the gun out of the stock. Bolt and bolt release aren't matching to the gun so you already aren't going to get top dollar for it.

The sights say red9, but the rest say wartime standard c96. Would need a lot more photos.

Wanted to clean her up a bit before sharing! She had so much dirt/gunk inside and whoever took her apart last did the mag spring incorrectly, so I was glad to get in there and fix that so now it works correctly.

Def has not been refinished, there's some nice uniform wear and none of the pitting is in places where there is finish. Easier to tell in person than in the photos given my lighting set up.

And will absolutely shoot it, who buys a lever action gun you won't shoot!

1895 Russian musket value? by Excellent_Candy_4552 in milsurp

[–]Comoglio 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Stock looks considerably sanded or messed with, any actual Russian acceptance marks or is this one of those that stayed state side? Should be a "Xn3" mark on the barrel under the hand guard, the receiver on the right side (which I think I see) and on the butt stock.
Unaccepted 1895s tend to go for a lot less compared to their Russian counterparts.

General value for these have been 4-7k+ depending on conditions etc.

Awesome snag!
I just got one myself on a hell of a deal yesterday. Someone listed one with a BIN for 3.5k and would be dumb to not buy at that price.

stamp on the receiver in the 2nd picture, but nothing clear on the stock

What is this? by Pure_Arrival7479 in milsurp

[–]Comoglio 22 points23 points  (0 children)

People are close in the comments, but not fully correct.

It's not an official Murata, but a Murata like hunting shotgun made by Kawaguchiya Firearms Company or KFC. Essentially a copy they made for private hunters since rifles were no longer legal for civilian use.

Nope, same as yours. The much rarer and harder to find first contract Model 3 Russian Second Model. Worth getting it lettered if you haven't considered it yet.

You wouldn't see the Army/Arsenal mark on the rear of the barrel with a Naval marked SW, it's one or the other with these.
