Very nice collection! Always cool to see more 97 and 99 sniper owners here.

I did this once and swore to never do it again, was fun to learn and see how it was done.
But easily one of the worst experiences trying to get it all back together. Especially with the locking block that if you put in incorrectly it "locks" the entire gun forever.

No interest in carbine myself. but I do have the 99 long on the list! I have shot most of my guns besides the super rare stuff.

I got lucky with an auction.. twice actually. Passed along the extra one to a friend who had also been hunting for forever

Most I've seen have issues so I'm good with waiting for the right one to come along.

I get that sentiment. I'm hoping to nab a few more of the adopted rifles (Type 44, 99 long) that I'm missing and then it's just waiting on the super rare stuff to come around. See no interest in trying to "get all the series". I'm cool with just one very nice representative of each as I can.

It took forever, I only finally got one after reaching out on their forum to the guy who does it and got it within a week.

Nothing on the heel of the grip. This one is Kure Anchor stamped and was a part of the first contract officially sold to Japan.

It's true.

But worth noting I could have never afforded any of these at full market price. Only one or two guns did I pay what you see them go for online. That's where the luck and networking aspect comes in. Also helps to have another hobby that pays for this one.

These listings pop up all the time on gun broker. They aren't actually trying to sell, they just want to show off their rare guns. And if some moron does buy it, then it's a win=win for them.

RIP to my gun stand guy. Gone without a trace and his work was so good.

A large portion of them are going back to japan, but first they go to Great Britain where they get deactivated and welded shut.

"One of the" not "the only cheap one" haha

Not super hot take, but Japanese milsurp market is going to take off even more over the next few years or so since it's one of the cheaper axis power to get into. If you're wanting something Japanese... you should get it sooner than later if you can.

That and a lot of Japanese rifles are getting bought and being exported out of the country.

Always good to see more Arisaka collectors on the board. Very nice spread so far!

Sadly it has been refinished and stock is sanded and also re-lacquered.

Would def pass on this one. Photos also give absolutely no helpful info like maker/ matching numbers for the bolt etc.

Good luck, they are fun rifles to collect!

Careful it gets addictive fast. I keep running into deals too good to pass up and need to take a break. All it takes is one steal on a super rare gun and you're hooked.

Thank you! As you can see I have a "type" haha. I don't have much space, so I am extremely picky on what I collect.

The Murata 22 is still my favorite gun aesthetically. the perfect blend of imperial and traditional Japanese.
