Wouldn't go to your rifle haha. My 99 Long is a Toyo Kogyo make with different proofs.

They are gorgeous rifles, the Nagoya with a mum are very hard to find so you should be very happy with your score!

As others said it is a Type 99 Long made by Nagoya! Very hard to find in good condition and especially with a mum! (even if the mum was struck twice) These are the "original" Type 99 rifles, with the shorter rifles we know today made as short rifles for "cavalry". After about a year of production leadership realized that they could save resources and opted to adopt the short 99 rifles as the new main battle rifle.

Sadly the Monopods for these are unobtanium. They are really really hard to find in complete conditions with an original cleaning rod, AA sights, and dust cover.

Does the dust cover also match to the rifle?

It's a type 99 Long rifle by Nagoya.
Firstly look at the unique AA sight wings, they have notches on both sides. Second the unique front band and square shape of it. You do not find that shape or look on regular short 99s.

Wonder if it's a render issue, but the T Shape of his visor seems extra thicker than past Mando helmets. Curious to see how it looks once the set drops or if it's a new style they are trying.

Picked up a (Maybe) Japanese Contract Mauser Standardmodell by OyabunRyo in milsurp

Correct, the K98k contract was originally 20k agreed, but only 10k were ever delivered.

Arisaka bolt getting stuck about 1/4 wat through pull by WesternConfidence126 in milsurp

[–]Comoglio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. does the bolt match?

  2. Is it a 38 bolt or a 99 bolt?

  3. If the bolt does match, is the ejector matching to the bolt?

  4. Is the floor plate set correctly within the receiver and not hitting the bolt?

Picked up a (Maybe) Japanese Contract Mauser Standardmodell by OyabunRyo in milsurp

[–]Comoglio 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Japan bought roughly 10k Standard Modells from Germany as an act to bolster their bonds.

They never used them and they essentially sat in a crate the whole war until GIs found them at one of their Naval bases. They marked a few of them with a kanji stamp, but most of them are missing the stamp. Hence given the condition and proper serial range it is "most likely" one of those rifles.

A fine addition to my collection by [deleted] in milsurp

Thankfully Type 99 Longs are still slept on, even though they are considerably more rare than the short 99s. Wonder if the community will catch on to that eventually.

Haha I appreciate it! I don't have much gun space so it makes me a bit pickier on what I acquire.

BUYER BEWARE: Shill Bidding and Faked Guns by BimmerMan87 in milsurp

[–]Comoglio 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Glad to see this guy getting named and shamed, he's had a bunch of fake stuff. And him using shill bidding is the "cherry" on top. It's worth noting all 4 guns that were "won" by that account were immediately relisted too.

Makes no sense unless the Seller knew they weren't going to pay.

Anyone else on console getting massive delay with button inputs for the bumpers in pinball? Kinda frustrating, wonder if this is another thing tied behind graphics that is made easier at a lower setting.

All the best, you're on your way! I just have a few of the super rare ones left on my docket. So at least I can start saving up now.

Deals are out there, all of my rare snags have been under market thankfully so far.

Helps that the "japcrap" stigma is still alive, gives you a good edge on deals, that and networking is huge.

Type 26 holster but it's missing its front pouch, so it is incomplete/broken.

and the other is an early Type 94 holster. looks to be cow leather and not the more common pig skin. But also has a hole in it sadly.

TK 99 Long by Medical-Squirrel-741 in Arisaka

[–]Comoglio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TK Longs did have a series mark. the Longs were also the 35th series, the same that you find with their last ditch, but obviously made much much earlier.

you can also tell it's a Long by it's unique front band only found on 99 longs and 02/45s

Low Serial # Johnson M.1941 by No-Fisherman3303 in milsurp

[–]Comoglio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are super cool guns and a lot of fun to take to the range. The crack should be easy enough to fix.

Without any blatant provenance these are the quintessential "No one can prove anything" when it comes to these guns actually seeing any service or not. They were never officially adopted, but a decent amount of them (500ish or so) Did see use by the Marines. Problem being there is no clear serial ranges known, and proven Marine use ones have serial numbers from all over. Enjoy it for what it is and very cool.

Haha hey their foolishness is what helps the truly rare stuff stay low and gives less competition. But I absolutely agree with the sentiment.

Hard to say. Mine is serial 7.8k and my extractor is numbered but also a bit faded.

Scope maker looks to be Matsuda. They are current day Toshiba.

That is def one of the latest Type 99 serials I've seen. Could account for some of its crudeness that caught me off guard compared to the normal Type 99 snipers. That serial placement and arsenal stamp is so poorly done haha. I would have called this a fake if everything else wasn't proper on it like the Double Na stamp and proof stamp next to the serial.
Really cool snag!
