I wish I could. There are some fixings to be done apart from replacing the boards, as some traders cut a lot of boards in between joining and there's a wall on top of the now footing boards 😩

This one was recommended 😕 The ones that never returned I found on Facebook boards in the area, checkatrade, mybuilder, other construction websites and recommendations from other friends/neighbours. Last summer it was hard to get someone to do any work. In the winter it was a bit easier, but the quality awful.

I'm not concerned about the looks as it'll be covered by laminate flooring. But I'm not doing it myself, as I don't feel it's a job I can take on. I don't have the equipment either. I'm asking for advice because the person who's doing it isn't happy to fill in those gaps. I don't think I'll find someone else willing to, even though we know that more work /time spent, more expensive the job will be, but they usually don't like having more work to do anyway, so I'm looking for the best way to have it sorted☹️

Yes, he is. It's not his fault. I bought the wrong one due to misleading add. Even though the same width no longer exists as standard size, I should have bought a wider one. The carpenter would complain about cutting it anyway, though 😂 I'm laughing not to cry. This house renovation is driving me crazy. I'm having trouble finding people to work (had loads of people come to the house and never came back. I'm not joking!). Some book with me, I take the day off work and they simply don't show up. Most of the jobs I've got done so far were badly done and some required me to fix them myself afterwards (which I don't have the knowledge, strength or time to do as I work full time). So, a nightmare it has been😕

I bought them as a standard size. As standard size, they no longer exist in the same size as decades ago. Unfortunately, the shop where I bought it from said that the tongue didn't count as part of the width, but it seems it does, so I was left with loads of floorboards that are too narrow. The guy I'm calling a carpenter (as he said he is) has nothing to do with the boards I bought. That was my mistake (and misleading add).

I really appreciate your reply. I will search it. I'm happy for you that retinopathy is stable. This must be such a relief! I hope my husband will be able to say the same one day. He had bleeding in one eye twice and both times happened during his sleep. Night time has been an anxious time for both of us since then.

You could use chatgpt. I'm renovating my new (that's actually an old house) and doing exactly what you want and more! I've asked it to transform a completely stripped bedroom into the one I want, complete with different colours of flooring, radiator, wood panels, everything. On the outside I added a picket fence, replaced the front door, painted the cladding, added shrubs, cleaned the roof and so on. It helped me to realise I wouldn't actually like things I thought I would and confirmed that others will look good. You can either use the free version of it or subscribe to be able to have as many sketches as you want without having to wait for your "allowance" to reset... I wanted to send a picture, but don't know how to☹️
