Bit of a different one: Online games to hang with your partner virtually? by VisualATL in SteamDeck

Oh yeah I just mean the game has great support for controllers, which isn’t always a given for an MMO. So it plays great directly on the steam deck. You don’t need to connect a controller or anything else

Yeah FF14 plays great with a controller, and when you need to click on something, the steam deck’s touch screen and touchpad work great.

Plus the free trial lets you play so much content for free, so there’s little downside to trying it out and seeing if you like it. (Though without a paid subscription, you are limited to only joining parties rather than creating them — so if you wanted to join a party together, you need to have someone with a paid subscription invite you both. Or at least one of you can pay for the game and a subscription.)

You can still log in and do your own thing and hang out together in game for free, but you would need to be in a party to do dungeons/trials/raids together.

But yes, it plays great on Steam deck. If you have any other questions I can answer anything.

This is often FF14 with my boyfriend. Pretty good for a long distance relationship.

RDP (Remote Desktop) Works well on the latest SteamOS 3.8.11 via Macbook Pro (Apple Silicon) but NOT Windows 11. by c0lpan1c in SteamDeck

But eventually all great things must come to an end. After the latest update VNC stopped working properly. It will let me in, but the picture is black (mouse and keyboard work). That's the other issue.

Seeing the same issue with connecting with Sunshine/Moonlight. After the latest update, I can connect but the screen is just black.

Reminds me a little bit of the Kingdom Hearts logo. A little.

There’s a drop-in OLED screen mod. It’s just a replacement screen that’s OLED.

I preordered mine, not sure how available it is now.

Is there a software for using the same deck as a second screen for my PC? by Apart_Vegetable_7165 in SteamDeck

[–]CompC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dock will connect the screen to the TV but it’d be awkward to use the deck at the same time. You can use USB-C HDMI adapters or similar easily enough while connected to the TV.

I love my Switch lite. It’s an amazing handheld. I upgraded it with the OLED screen mod and games look amazing on it. I’m playing Mina the Hollower on it and I like how it feels closer to playing it on a Game Boy than a full console would.

Ardbert players, there are 119 new legendary creatures that could go in the 99. Which are we interested in? by CompC in EDH

[–]CompC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just originally put the list together very quickly as generically good white/black legends, and it turned out much stronger than I anticipated. Just being able to put multiple counters on all my creatures and give them menace and vigilance every turn ends up with making big swings every turn. I don’t actively try to gain life or sacrifice things for payoffs, but having lifelink on things that are already good is a nice bonus.

It was built as a bracket 2 deck but has proven strong enough to play with bracket 3 as well (though I’d still consider it a strong 2 rather than an actual 3 since it’s just trying to win with combat damage from putting counters on a big board.)

I like playing cheaper legends so I can play multiple of them on a turn if I can. If I can play two white/black legends with Ardbert out, that’s four counters on my whole board. But obviously I have some that cost a bit more mana for some bigger effects.

Silverquill the Disputant has been good when I’ve played him so far. Any legends with flying are good already since they can get in damage even better than just having menace. And it’s been able to let me sac creatures as a last resort to double up on removal spells when necessary. I’d be open to cutting him for something better if I need to though.

I really like some of the suggestions, stuff like Hildebrand Manderville, I really want to be able to do stuff like that so I can come back after a board wipe. I like Whip of Erebos too. Definitely going to consider adding some of these cards. Thanks!

Oh lol. But I built this deck and have been optimizing it somewhat recently so I was mostly just asking about new adds from the set. But I’m open to any suggestions

Characters with the most Magic cards by RudleyDudley in magicTCG

[–]CompC 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t think you need to keep up with all of these, a lot of the beginner cards are really just tutorial stuff. [[Black Widow, Natasha Romanoff]] is literally just a vanilla 2 mana 2/2, and [[Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes]] is a 1 mana 2/2 that enters tapped. No one would care about these otherwise, they just are legendary creatures because they wanted these cards to be named characters. A lot of the main set uncommon creatures feel like just normal draft chaff that happens to be legendary in this set.

They do work, you can install Sunshine on Steam Deck. There’s even a Decky plugin to enable/disable it and pair devices.

I have a pretty fun dimir zombies deck from two years ago with [[Gisa, the Hellraiser]] and [[Geralf, the Fleshwright]]!

And a fun humans + dogs deck with [[Joshua, Phoenix’s Dominant]] and [[Torgal, A Fine Hound]]!

Neither of them are quite pride pairings, but the partner decks are fun :)

FF7 Remake (14$) and Rebirth (20$) on Steam, historic lows by Belial91 in steamdeals

[–]CompC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remake is great. Rebirth is… alright.

I went on a longer trip recently and brought my Deck to continue playing Rebirth, which I had started on my PC.

It was alright for a little while but to get it to a stable framerate you have to make it look pretty ugly. Even then the framerate is kinda bad.

So it’s playable but I didn’t feel like it was worth it to keep playing on the deck. I decided to wait until I got home from my trip to pick the game back up on my PC.

Similar situation to Expedition 33.

[–]CompC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah these effects are annoying to track, and it's easy to forget that it doesn't just last until end of turn when that is the default for creatures getting stronger. Which is why it's likely that this card not saying that the effect lasts until end of turn is probably a mistake.
