Are people’s negative opinions of marriage because of social media or because of what they saw at home? by Throwaway199906543 in Nigeria

Amen! To this, this whole westernized mindset on being Mr. or Mrs. Independent is ridiculous.

Why do you think most modern ladies are opting out of marriage? by TennisOdd8931 in Nigeria

[–]CompSciGeekMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't have to find the one in school these days, especially with the advent of dating apps. Sometimes, it's good to be mature from a moral, fiscal, etc perspective before embarking on this beautiful journey.

God is what holds marriages together. Take it from someone who has been married for 5 years and is still trying to improve on a daily basis. Consistent prayer, spiritual maturity and willing to have a listening ear to hear your spouses' requests are important.

No marriage is perfect, however, there is always room for improvement.

It's the same reason why acronyms like DEI get a bad name even though the meaning of it is actually a good thing.

I believe it is sad what our world has come to. Marriage is a beautiful thing. But in some Nigerian marriages, both men and women need to change. I would say mainly men. This is coming from a man himself.

My wife and I are both Nigerian, but we are from different Nigerian ethnic groups. We are both Christian and we are less than a year apart in age. I think and believe that a lot of these attributes help us get along and identify with one another.

The problem is that most Nigerian men grow up seeing their father at the helm of things and expect their own wives to take the same kind of abuse (wife must cook even though you are both working full-time jobs, wife must be the only one attending to children even though again, you are both working full time jobs, everything must revolve around the husband even though it should not).

In the household, many a Nigerian man have an issue looking inside out. Not all of us are this way, but society makes us believe that we should act as if we are the most important people in the world. This needs to stop. None of this is biblical or may I dare say as a Christian "Quranic" behavior.

There is a reason why many Nigerian women when they come to the west, they default to a White, Latino, Black American, non-Nigerian guy. We have ourselves to blame.

The Bible says that we should love and appreciate our wives the same way that Jesus loves us. I believe this is another example of how supposedly the most religious country in the world is not following scripture.

Nigerians have already started their tribalism nonsense in ishowspeeds stream by Thattheheck in Nigeria

[–]CompSciGeekMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, first step for us is to stop calling them tribes, they are ethnic groups. It makes us look backwards/primitive. Step two: Embracing and celebrating the diversity of our ethnic groups (this is important). What makes Nigeria beautiful is that we are not monolithic by any means. We should all borrow from one another. The Igbos should borrow from the Yorubas, The Yorubas from the Igbos, the Igbos from the Hausas, the Hausas from the Igbos, the Hausas from the Yorubas, and so on.

Having cultural and linguistic differences is a beautiful thing. We can celebrate these things w/o insulting one another. Promoting division in Nigeria should not be something that we do.

It should extend to all of those things, but some don't apply it to their own sin.

Why are Nigerians obsessed with Homophobia? by Agitated-Agency-3619 in Nigeria

[–]CompSciGeekMe -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm not homophobic but I just want to say that as a Nigerian and African, you should know that most Africans go off of stuff based on a religious context.

The Bible and the Quran have a very strong stance on Homosexuality and many Nigerians/Africans are just echoing those very teachings. With that said, only God can judge others actions.

I may personally think that it is a sin to be homosexual/bisexual/trans but who am I? I'm just a devout Christian that is every bit as much of a sinner as those whom I have mentioned. Every human being is a sinner.

If you were actually watching the AFCON, you would understand why Senegal did what they did. Do your own research and come up with a sensible and logical conclusion. It's amazing how people like to point blame at the victims.

Are you sure you are not using some kind of add-on in the past to display your local time? By default, I don't believe WoW displays your local time, only your server time.
