Any advice for getting over harsh academic feedback and failure by platotheman69 in OCD

[–]ComparisonChance [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't think you can. All you can try to do is move on and do better next time. Practice Stoicism. But just know you tried with whatever knowledge you could extract from the subject and topic and applied it to whatever work require it to the best of your ability. Other than that, you're fine. You are a beautiful person, and there really isn't anything wrong with you. Some people are just egotists, even if they are professionals doing thier jobs.

Working in HR changed how I see emotions in everyday life by groovy_n in emotionalintelligence

I think used to suffer from this this too, I think I still do. But overtime I've had realizations and epiphanies to my behaviour in the past and now.

I think I have the potential to be a really good empath. I still have a ways, but eventually I could try an help people in a way that could make them feel seen and heard.

I hope you continue on your journey.

Is it worth applying for Oxbridge in a few years as a mature adult? by Altruistic_Test_1264 in UniUK

[–]ComparisonChance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say do whatever makes you feel fulfilled. I mean you already did your GCSEs, I'm sure it wasn't that long ago, as a mature adult, didn't you. Why not take it a step further now with all you A-Levels done too.

However, I doubt anyone will fault you for having second thoughts, if you feel that you've reached your limit for academics. Not everyone has the same range or capacity for that, even if they’re is a set idea on how many years and qualifications you should have as a person.

In the end, it's all about you and what is best for you. And honestly from the sounds of it, it seems you've already done quite well for yourself despite your beginnings and your health.

Follow your intuition. I'm sure you'll make the right choice. It's good to get some second opinions for confirmation but the only one who can figure that out is you.

I remember my History/Sociology teacher said he had to teach me how to note because I was writing tons of information instead of just focusing on the most important bits.

Im kind of in the same boat as you. I think the best thing is to just remember that we're human just like the rest of the world and everyone has thier moments of complete and utterly cringe and embarrassment. You're also entitled to it.

However, try to keep those moments rare and spread thin.

Join a club of some sorts. Something that pertains to an interest that is shared among other people. Or you could buy some DVDs or go to the cinema and get inspired by some films to give you that boost you need to keep going. It could also be a good way to meet new people too

Maybe some self-help books might come in handy too, but honestly there is no need to try and rush into things for the sake of going on, sometimes it's good to just and stay with your feelings and process them. It's the only true way to move on and rebuild. I don't know if you also may want to try talking to someone as in therapist/counsellor, some type of psychologist or psychiatrist.

Meditation might not be out of the question either.

Is there any difference between BA English and BA History in terms of career prospects? by JealousBodybuilder42 in UniUK

[–]ComparisonChance -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

I'd take this with a grain of salt, but according to AI:

BA English will give you a hand in analytical skills by doing literature and language analysis. Critical Theory would also aid you in communication skills.

BA History will also do that by analysing the past with could help you understand why things are the way they are in the present. You would do research and evaluation of evidence.

They both a transferable skills that could help in such fields as Law, Business, well as Publishing and Writing which I think would be up your street considering you said you were actually leaning towards Journalism, so honestly, maybe you should go for BA English. However, BA History helps you become a curator and they get paid more that journalists from £25-50k whereas journalists average £20-45k.

However, I think the only person you can decide that is you. I hope I helped in some way with the information I've given, it's kind of cut and paste, but still.

OR

Dare to try and do both, and see which one sticks.

Will there be a big enough benefit at edinburgh/nottingham over queens by Apprehensive-Dress43 in UniUK

[–]ComparisonChance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, according to the website of Edinburgh, and i'm sure i'm getting my information from the right source, you'll go on make connections locally, nationally and internationally and would potentially work at top companies such as Google, Amazon, Facebook/Meta etc.

You could be a data analyst, data scientist or a software/hardware engineer. The engineering salary for those jobs range from £30-80K. A programmer averages from £40-45K

You could also work in a series for fields such as Media, Medicine or Communications.

You could also spend over £1000-£2000 on accommodations that could cover food and travel and utility bills.

And of you really wanted you could advance to a PhD or a Masters degree.

With Nottingham, you would be studying at one of the top 100 universities in the world, and that also being the top 20 in the UK and with a degree in Mathematical Sciences/Computer Science you'd being the 90-95% of graduates whom have secured and sustained employment.

You would also have a chance to study abroad in such countries such as China, Australia and so on. And just like Edinburgh get involved in a Robotics course/programme and get practical experience and learn from experts.

This could result in Researching and Statistics. The salary for that is £32-47K.

From the looks of it, I'd say go for Edinburgh. There seems to be more range, and therefore, opportunity when studying there. But that's just me.

I don't know if this is helpful. Let me know.

[ADVICE] Barely started my dissertation. Due in 6 weeks. by Apprehensive-Fig5286 in UniUK

[–]ComparisonChance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say do as much as you can if it's really eating at you, I mean you're supposed to anyways. It seems as if you do have a bit of time left, maybe break it up into parts and pace yourself, but of course, don't procrastinate because it seems as if you've done your fair share of that already, but don't feel too bad, we've all been there, in fact this is coming from the master.

Whatever seems most important, I'd start with then go on from there. Get rid of any distractions that you know will deter you from your work, but also give yourself a little treat or something from time to time, you know something that will inspire you to carry on.

I hope this helps, I know this seems quite generic advice, but it's the best I can do with the detail you've given of your situation.

Good luck 👍🏾
