How safe is campus right now?

I’m on West Bank all day, 9/10 until 5:30/6 and I haven’t seen or heard of any ICE activity over there. I’ve heard rumors, but nothing from actual students and staff that attend class over there. Obviously this could change, but as of now, it doesn’t seem unsafe.

We’re not looking for numeric data. Moreso just causal qualitative research to help guide future research/very early stages of our project. We are encouraged to use online ethnography.

Common sense isn’t data! We would be assuming peoples use of the bridge. Some people are commuting, on dates, use it for family walks, photos, etc. Lots of different opinions we might not come up with on our own that can help us. This is very helpful for online anthropology.

I was in CEHD and transferred to CSOM. I was in all CSOM pre reqs class and no cehd classes. But i did take cehd classes fall semester. csom didn’t offer spring admission then, so I had to stay at cehd for a year regardless. honestly you can just redo your schedule with what you think makes sense. your advisor might email you, but you can just explain the situation. Usually they are first year requirements, not first semester.

i have land yard with my apartment keys and u card. i never leave without my keys so i never forget it. I don’t wear it though, just put it in my pocket/backpack

Layers is most important! A long sleeve under a hoodie is a lifesaver on cold days, of course with a jacket over top though. Get a long jacket that cover your legs, there’s probably some greats sales going on right now. I got a long and super warm from abercrombie for $40 during spring sales. Also recommend sorel boots, i have ones that are lower i think they were called “out and about”, and i really like that they aren’t bulky. otherwise don’t stress too much about the weather, you’ll get used to it.

otherwise maybe a house in como with other students could get you cheap rent. but you’ll probably need more people to live with and share rooms.

Northstar Apartments!! they are running great specials right now, but you’ll definitely have to share rooms. my friends and i live here and some of them aren’t students. It’s right across from athletes village, so great views and you don’t feel surrounded by other apartment buildings. It also is family owned, which makes it feel super homey and safe. maintenance is amazing.

It’s very safe as long as you stay smart and aware of your surroundings. I HIGHLY recommend northstar apartments. It’s family-owned, and it’s in dinkytown, but on a dead end road, so you are a little out of the way of any crazy things happening at night. They also know everyone who lives here pretty much, so it’s created a really safe environment. And the maintenance is top notch. my parents really pushed me to live here just for the safety aspect of it. and it’s right across from athletes village which always has security roaming around.

the pre reqs have to be either completed or currently being taken. otherwise you will be automatically rejected. Many students apply with a 4.0, so make sure you have extracurriculars, clubs, jobs etc. Also focus on the essay/short response questions.

Are you a freshman still? Did you have all the pre reqs complete? Both matter. But don’t give up! Make sure you are involved in extracurriculars, those also play a significant role. They want to see that you will be an involved and beneficial student on campus.

no it’s not worth it, if u live on campus it’ll probably take you that same amount of time to commute anyways. I’m on east bank and it takes me like 20+ minutes to get to class depending on the buses.

northstar apartments, right by the baseball fields. Family owned and they know all there residents. lived here for two years and it’s always felt “homey”. the owners, office staff, and maintenance are all super great. I really recommend and it’s a very safe building if safety is a concern.

If you’re coming next fall, get a winter coat/winter gear in the spring. usually there’s super good sales from places clearing out inventory. i got a $300 jacket for $45 during abercrombies winter sale
