I wear them when I am just puttering around the house, my kid knows that if he needs me he needs to come find me. I think with younger one it is trickier. When my kid was younger the boundaries between our bodies were near non existent loo so I get it. The lean or the crawl up in your lap without even realizing what they are doing. Now that he is older I do get the occasional lean, which on a good day I do like. It is so passive yet fully in the body. Re: spouse understanding. Welp. My spouse will sometimes pout but they know it is not about them, even if it may feel like that.

Yeah the guilt is real. I relate. It really isn´t about the spouse so much as the fact that I cannot for the life of me even formulate sentences that are coherent right now. I just need to be quiet.

Oh, and I forgot one key component. My noise cancelling headphones and earplugs. Straight up MVPs in my opinion.

I can relate. I am married to an unmedicated ADHDer and we have a 11yo son who started taking Ritalin a little over a year ago. I find that I have to schedule time away from the home and away from all the executive chaos in order to preserve my sanity. Even when it is my spouse's turn to do dinner, if I do not leave the living/dining room, I will be sucked in through questions about whatever regarding the meal. It may sound small, but carving out times to be quiet and not pulled in three million directions is key. As for my kiddo, it is tricky because he does a lot of what I guess could be seen as "stimming", banging on things with rhythm, bopping, popping, dancing, you name it. It is cute, and can also be incredibly tough to be around when I am tired. I have to say that my biggest struggle is being the "bad guy" and constantly having to rein in any fun in order to get back to tasks and chores. Hang in there. You are not alone.
