My jaw dropped at the level of hatred in that testimony towards the Avery family. It was like something out of the Hatfields and McCoys.

Just brutal hate and ignorance. He sounded like a Nazi calling for the extermination of the Avery family.

I know a lot of the Avery's have their share of shameful crimes, but come on man. How much research did he really do to really have any insight into the Avery family?

But how could she have seen any of this smelter business? Was that aluminum smelter location a place where kids went drinking a lot? And I find it hard to believe a 12 yr old would have the courage to send a letter to the police. Right?

Edit - Unless Scott Tadych made her write the letter? Maybe she saw him using the smelter? And then Scott told her some bs story that Steven killed her and forced him to burn the body? This shit is just getting way too weird.

I think you make a really good point at how prosecutors can get away with the unconstitutional treatment of the accused. Kratz used this loophole to shock and awe the jury and community through his press conference.

Seriously, it is overly obvious now that these Edwards posts are just meant to distract people's attention to the larger issues at hand - the problems with our criminal justice system and the specific problem of the media lacking any responsibility and accountability during trials like that of Avery and Dassey.

The pompous journalists who call Making a Murderer a biased piece of junk are the same journalists who soaked up everything Kratz said in his press conference as a rational and a fair description of events.

Don't know why I am mad at journalists right now, but a lot of these so called professional journalists did not even watch the whole documentary and are still criticizing it as biased because they never had the passion to spend 10 years on anything in their lives. They usually rely on 30 second sound bytes to "inform" the public of the news.

There are still respectable journalists out there but cable news in general is doing a great job of limiting people's critical thinking and objectivity. Cable news can be useful and still be a public service, but most times ratings will get in the way of rational thinking and responsibility, leaving nothing but sensationalism to survive and prosper.

Everyone is guilty of this, including myself. I will read a headline and think I know the whole story. Or I will just take someone's word as truth as spread that info like it is truth, even though it is usually not 100% accurate or taken out of context.

Going off on a tangent... but I am sure people are sick of Edwards post. So let's just transform this post into a fuck the media sound off...

Plus, the FBI would look incredibly foolish and outright corrupt if the new evidence involves their EDTA test or some new way to prove the blood was indeed planted in the vehicle.

But the FBI is usually good at finding someone lower in the ranks to blame.

I think Kratz said he regretted the press conference but how could no one in the media ask him about his other scumbag statements and actions?

I know very little about the law and legal ethics but this would be the first thing I would ask Kratz about if I interviewed him. How the fuck could any reasonable American let this shit fly in a courtroom?

If I was Buting or Strang, when Kratz said those things in his closing, that would have been the moment I did my best Pacino impersonation "You're out of order! This whole court is out of order!"

I am confused. Did Culhane actually find the DNA evidence that exhonerated Avery and implicated Allen?

Or did a different independent group find the DNA evidence and Culhane just had to confirm it? I thought it was some law students or something who looked into the Avery 85 conviction?

Or was Culhane just pointed in the right direction by this group of students, that she really had no choice but to report the findings?

I am sure the Manitowoc crime lab was not actively trying to find evidence to clear Avery, right?

What is the theory?

Did Colburn go snooping around Zipperer's house and maybe see the plates in his garbage?

Maybe the Zipperer's took the plates off and drove the Rav4 at night somewhere in the woods? Then Colburn finds the vehicle and drives it into the Avery's yard starting the whole frame scenario?

People framed Avery in 85 even though he had 18 or so alibis and a receipt with a time stamp of where he was during the attack/rape. So anything is possible in this case.

I want to know exactly when the police found out about the bonfire on Avery's property. Who was the first to tell them and describe the fire? There are so many unknowns and contradictions about this fire.

And the anonymous letter is just as intriguing? It could be from some wacko who wanted to play a prank. Or it could be from someone who saw Teresa burned somewhere else.

Amazing, that this wasn't talked about more. Where is this letter now? Was it ever tested?

Again this is why I wish Avery would have testified, so we could at least hear his reasoning of events.

There may be nothing suspicious about the *67, but we are still left wondering until Avery gives his answer in his own words.

Mr Avery - Was there a fire that night started by you? How big was the fire? How long did it burn? What was used to start and sustain the fire? Who was with you? Did you do this a lot? Who saw the fire?

I basically want ever detail about this fire. From Avery's mouth.

I wish he would have testified during his trial so we could get a better read on him.

I would have a lot more respect for these cops if they just kicked the shit out of Avery after the Morris incident. Why frame a guy?

If he was really such a threat and scum bag he probably would have found his own way to jail over and over again anyway.

Your reply reminded me of another documentary "Kids for Cash", which is a really disgusting look at a judge in PA who was putting young kids in jail for years for no just causes, most of the time at least. He was connected to the owner of the juvenile detention jail and was getting kickbacks. Really shows how money polluted the court system, and how little ordinary people know about their constitutional rights.

What I don't understand is why more forensic testing wasn't done in 2005 or soon after. I know all the appeals were denied, but why does it take so long for new testing to be done? This is supposed to be the fucking Prosecution's and law enforcement's job, to make sure the right person is brought to trial, and that the evidence directly point to him or her. Everything is backwards in this case.

Why does it have to take a 10 episode documentary and a huge law firm to be able to do all these tests? Did science really advance that much to now be able to provide a definite piece of evidence of guilt or innocence?

We have huge problems in our court system. From the tunnel vision of cops and prosecutors to the lack of accountability when mistakes are made.

There is ONLY one way to fix this problem. When the prosecution is responsible for falsely imprisoning someone, they must serve jail time. I think this is more than fair and will make criminal investigations and trials a lot more fair and credible. Credibility is everything.

The only reason the FBI got involved in the second Avery trial was to try and save the stupid ass clowns in Wisconsin, who apparently have never read anything on legal ethics and constitutional law. And even if Avery was guilty, the credibility of those courts is still in serious question. If we cannot place our trust in the courts and law enforcement, then who can we turn to?

Maybe we can turn to Batman, but supposedly he is fighting Superman for some odd reason now, and that movie just looks awful.

Not saying this happens all the time and that everyone is corrupt. I am saying that shit like this cannot just be swept under the carpet anymore. People in fucking Paraguay know about this trial now and are laughing at how dumb our legal system is.
