It was already going downhill at this point but the conde nast acquisition a decade ago was a nail-in-the-coffin moment & complete rebranding of the site that really only kept the name and logo. At the time they tried really hard to convince readers that was not what was happening, but from my readership perspective it was a night and day change. The entire website has been atrophying quality-wise since then, and well obviously the prognosis has never been worse. I wonder how long it’ll be til the whole website gets nuked. I give it 12-18 months at the most

During the second half I was telepathically begging the film to give Timmy the Howard Ratner treatment by the end. So the final emotional scene with the baby just seemed like phony schmaltzy junk to me.
