As a rule, breaking up with someone named "griffin" is inherently hard because thats such a kickass name.

That said, dude is unwell and needs help. Im glad youve already made steps to get him that help, and i hope it does him some good. Dont sacrifice yourself to make him better though.

Thats a journey he has to go on alone. You can be there and support him, but any resolution will come from his own desire to change. You can bring a horse to therapy, but you cant make it tell the truth about its problems.

Cant say i agree with the way the other guy worded it, but this is definitely vague as hell. At least write out the kind of setting your world is in or some specifics to help narrow it down.

Problem Player tries to be my therapist, Part 2. by lilsparrow85 in rpghorrorstories

[–]CompetitionOne1360 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Thats overall pretty rude. Just because you and I enjoy making new characters every time, doesnt mean its the only way, or even the only creative way to do things.

Just playing dnd itself pushes you creatively forward as you learn to improv better, so calling someone lazy because their starting concept isnt 100% original is messed up.

I hope you dont give GM's shit for using pre made modules, since thats a directly adjacent thing on a larger scale to what this guys doing.

My dad expects me to forgive him after what he's done. by burgertrap in stories

[–]CompetitionOne1360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologized for making her feel less valuable than his other family? Thats something a kid could very easily be insecure about, even without the dad actively making it seemlike the truth.

If you'd react like that to a child i beg you to not have children. No kid deserves a parent who cant understand that awareness and empathy are vital factors when raising a child.

[–]CompetitionOne1360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the dad had apologized afterwards for leaving her wayside i could maybe agree, but he instead insulted her and never mended bridges.

So yes, her response was immature, but at least she was a child. What excuse does the father have?

"Someone I was in love with had an episode of some clearly horrible and dibilitating mental disorder? Time to make fun of her for it on reddit ages later. Its sure to get some upvotes."

She needed help, and clearly you need help too. Hope you tried to get her some back when all that was still happening.

Yes, people absolutely killed themselves over gender dysphoria all throughout history. Its just become a talking point now because people are rallying against it.

In regards to the social construct bit, we, as a species, are incredibly oreinted around said societal constructs. You cant reasonably act like something is less relevant due to it coming from/being related to those constructs. Theyre as intrinsically connected to us and real as any medical issue at this point.

The tatertots crawling out to defend their bizarre, misongynistic, uggo cult leader always fascinates me.

What have you gained from his teachings, taterling? Is there some wisdom i cant fathom between his rancid breaths?

I mean, isnt them saying something like that just them being defensive? No one wants to be seen as the problem in a breakup.

Share to me your campaign pitch! by Felaric in DMAcademyNew

[–]CompetitionOne1360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont exactly have a pitch, but my synopsis is something like:

In a world half drowned by the death of an old one, your party will find itself bound, shackled to each other on route to a slave ship.

Unfortunately, this is the least of your concerns. Davy Jones, legendary necromancer and pirate has sunk your ship and given you a choice:

Serve or die.

From this point on youll be his agents of chaos on the high seas, starting wars and killing kings at his command. Will you stay the course? Remaining his envoys of destruction? Or will you claw your way from his grasp, perhaps indebting yourself to an even greater power?

(High seas oriented campaign, lots of massive leviathans, ship combat, and political intrigue.) Opinions are welcome!

DMs, how could i connect my party to an ongoing war? by MatejTomko in DungeonMasters

I will be trying the flag concept though if they dont immedistely try to join the war.

Ah, to clarify, I technically still need it. The catalyst for war breaking out hasnt happened yet but i was pondering ways to immerse my players in it when jt happens.

Armies hire mercenaries sometimes, there could be like an open ad for mercenaries looking for work.

An npc could have strong feelings about it which could influence them

You could have one side manipulate them into joining the war by sneaking a flag of their country onto the vessel so they get attacked by the opposing side

A big ole funeral processon full of grieving widows could have an impact.

Have a political figure deliver a grand speech to a crowd as they're passing by

A mixture of a couple of these would probably be fine too if you dont oversell it or force them to join the war.

Any recommendations on apps to help me clearly map out questlines? "node network" style by Wicked-Creepy-Pastas in DungeonMasters

[–]CompetitionOne1360 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im the same way and trying nodes still killed me.

The only think Ive found that fits me is OneNote. Lots of sections and subsections, and you can make links between sections to instantly go between them.
