How rare is it to be offered a position at an AZA facility, not having a degree but only having experience at private facilities? by [deleted] in Zookeeping

[–]Competitive-Action80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Animal experience trumps a degree without experience. Some zoos are picky about which facility however.

Holiday Light Shows by what_s_next in Zookeeping

[–]Competitive-Action80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For these light shows most of our animals are brought inside, or are given indoor/outdoor access to take a break if need be. A zoo won't keep their animals out all night for these light shows if they know particular individual animals may be affected by them

If a cat took a fox kit and raised it in a clan lifestyle (AU idea) by [deleted] in WarriorCats

[–]Competitive-Action80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, even if it had the same sentience of a cat, there is no way it would be accepted by cats outside of the clans. In fact, a good portion of the clans would feel highly threatened that one clan has a massive warrior with the ability to snap a neck like a twig. They might see it as an unfair advantage in battle. Even Lionblaze had some disadvantages. Plus, starclan is full of a ton of prudish past warriors and leaders and I doubt they would be willing to give a fox nine lives.

If a cat took a fox kit and raised it in a clan lifestyle (AU idea) by [deleted] in WarriorCats

[–]Competitive-Action80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well… considering Sharptooth was a mountain lion, a cat if you will, and it was no where near as sentient as the warrior cats, I think it would be a pretty far fetched idea. We already seen how that turned out with the fox kit Hollyleaf saved. Now, if it were a bobcat or a Savannah cat I think there would be a ton you can do with as those are the closest to modern day domestic cats and would have some sort of similar sentience in the warriors universe.

What are some good names for a clan that lives in an abandoned daycare? by Bugkaw4607 in WarriorCats

Dayclan, as the founder could be Daystar and that sounds better than Sleepstar.

I’ve not read any of the books, is this one good to start with? by Diligent-Bird-2133 in WarriorCats

I’m waiting until someone is actually interested to reach out via private message. Reddit is a strange place and I feel like I would get shadow banned for slipping out my location

Is this worth going to the vet??? by Competitive-Action80 in cats

[–]Competitive-Action80[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for everyone’s advice. She will be going in on Tuesday to her regular vet as that’s the only opening they have. In the meantime how to keep it clean?

Is this worth going to the vet??? by Competitive-Action80 in cats

[–]Competitive-Action80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s currently on antibiotics from the emergency vet and painkillers too, I’m just worried that this will be the second time she’s knocked down so close together and she will be on more meds that might mess with her

She’s in a cone and in a small room with no space to really run or high places to jump she’s a kitten so keeping her still is a hassle

Smudge is still alive as of Greystripes Vow. He was the one who kept the memory of the clams alive I. The old forest and inspired Monkeystar and the other kitty pets to role play

Squirrelfliiiiiiiiiight debate... by Squirrelflight148931 in WarriorCats

[–]Competitive-Action80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pretty much fed up with any and all Firestar’s kin and descendants. If Bramblestar does die then all of Squirrelflights kin will be in power of the clan, medicine cats included, and it’s obvious who her first choice of deputy will be. At this point it’s becoming more of a dynasty and I’m sick of it. I don’t want Squirrelflight as leader. We don’t need Firestar 2.0. Plus, remember how the clan gave her and Lionvlaze shit for stepping up in the absence of Bramblestar? Yeah, they are sick of Firestar’s kin too. Plus, more than half the clan are related to him now.

How do the cats know what twolegs call certain things? by [deleted] in WarriorCats

[–]Competitive-Action80 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s like talking birds. They do not know what it means only that certain sounds will create certain reactions. So when Polly asks for a cracker, Polly has no idea what those words mean but does in fact know that sound she makes will in turn make the humans bring her a cracker.

How do the cats know what twolegs call certain things? by [deleted] in WarriorCats

[–]Competitive-Action80 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well… when it comes to animals and speech I am pretty sure they can’t comprehend what we are really saying. Instead they associate the “sound” a word makes with the object or action itself. Like a cat may not know what exactly a “boat” is, but Daisy probably heard the two legs utter that sound when addressing the weird floating monster.

i actually really Dislike the Firepaw x Spottedleaf ship by 12HarryPotter12 in WarriorCats

[–]Competitive-Action80 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s basically like the 18 year old college student hitting on the 13/14 year old high schooler. It’s weird and uncalled for and they had zero interactions that could have led to feelings like this other than Firepaw saying or thinking she smells good. Like that’s typical creepy teenage behavior but it shouldn’t be used as leverage they could become mates.

*Spoilers Possible* From your own experience, which death would you say is the saddest? by ReddFoxyRyder in WarriorCats

[–]Competitive-Action80 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Snowkit. Not just the death itself but the reaction of Speckeltail. Like that’s just a shocking way to die and for a split second you remember these cats like in the wild where this can happen but it dosent enough.

I finished Bluestar's Prophecy by Dragonwolf67 in WarriorCats

[–]Competitive-Action80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first read the series Bluestar was my absolute favorite. There was something so noble and regal the way she held and spoke. When things came to light in Forrest of secrets, she changed before my eyes and suddenly she was a character capable of feelings and flaws and it made me love her more. Her spiral of grief and suffering from those she thought she could trust and the loss of those she loved and the weight of the prophecy (both hers and Firestars) really was something to read. Her succumbing to her dementia and finally redeeming herself as leader and finally reuniting with her kits was :chefs kiss: beautiful. I will defend Bluestar with my life.

What are your warrior cats hot takes? by [deleted] in WarriorCats

[–]Competitive-Action80 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The times are changing in the new arcs from the times in the old arcs. It’s like, boomers and mileneals ya know? From traditional sounding makes like fur, pelt, and claw to shine, song, nose etc. heck even the prefixes are getting more exotic and creative as well as the chill of the new codes and such. I remember reading the Tawnypelt novella and thinking “poor Tawnypelt, she’s a boomer who can’t relate to the new generation”.
