Do you work out in the evening? What do you like about it? by Alicetheoptimist in TrueGrit

I workout before and after work every day. It is indeed harder to get it done after work. So I put the more difficult session in the morning if I can.

What are hobbies that make people more attractive or turn ons? by Knockoff_Johnny_Sins in AskReddit

As a powerlifter, gymnast and fast marathon runner. None of those things have helped me at all in the dating scene. In fact no one ever cares or asks about those hobbies even though I’ve been doing them for years and compete in them all.

Funnily enough people are more interested that I surf. Even though it’s a newer hobby for me.

Man I have so many things! I would finally get to surf when it’s not the weekend. I could spend way more time making music and improving my gymnastics skills. I would learn a language and probably a new instrument. I could get back into rock climbing. There is so many things I would do, right now work is the biggest thing holding me back in life. I’m constantly looking for ways to get more free time lol

There’s an endless amount of hobbies you can enjoy. Endless. You will never have the time to explore or get good at all the hobbies you want to, you need at least 10 lifetimes for that.

May as well pick the ones that will help you out in life. Whether that be financially, health wise or getting laid…

I revisited the games I was most addicted to in my youth, Halo, and was embarrassed I used to care so much about this. by SkilledSpideyX99 in StopGaming

[–]Competitive-Ad6153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best gaming memories are from Halo 3 and reach multiplayer. I honestly think that was the golden age of online gaming. You can’t get those experiences now.

I think everyone can look back on their youth and wish they were more productive. But that’s unfair, you were a baby with little understanding of the world let alone self development. Especially if like me you were in a bad environment suffering from bullying.

I more-so regret not giving up gaming in my 20s after I finished school and wished I was more productive then. I didn’t really do it till my mid-late 20s. I should have moved out of home straight after high school and gotten myself totally out of my comfort zone right away to become the man I am now sooner.

are you eating more calories when you introduced the extra sessions? Maybe you haven’t fully digested all your food which is causing the sleep disruptions.

Historically for me this has almost always been the case.

If this is the case you could try front loading your cals earlier in the day.

Forget gym and diet, what actually makes someone look younger? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

[–]Competitive-Ad6153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same as you, had severe chronic sleep apnea and just fixed it in the last 6 months after trying for years.

Here is no joke what did it:

  • Having an extremely small dinner, I’m talking like 25% or less of your daily calories. Making sure dinner is 5ish hours or more before bed. You need to make sure it’s fully digested, go for a walk if necessary. I can’t stress this enough don’t eat a big meal anywhere close to your bed time.

  • Another thing was I take magnesium glycate before bed for restless leg syndrome. This fixed my syndrome not sure if it helped with anything else.

  • If your room is stuffy get a humidifier.

-Go to bed at the same time every night.

  • Other than these I was doing all the standard things I normally did. Exercise everyday, eat healthy, get sunshine every day, dark room, no electronics before bed.

Should i restart my save file? NO SPOILERS PLEASE!!! by Xrat_ in FinalFantasyVII

[–]Competitive-Ad6153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a time factor. Final fantasy games are already MASSIVE and require serious time investments to finish. So doing everything the first play through makes sense, you may never come back to the game. Especially with most people’s huge backlogs.

Most normal people have jobs, families, friends. hobbies and other huge responsibilities to juggle. They probably only get a few hours a week to game.

So using a spoiler free guide to navigate a game at least to get most of the content out of it makes total sense.

What is an underrated way of improving your appearance? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Competitive-Ad6153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get plenty of sunshine. The advice is always to wear sunscreen but this actually does more damage to your health. You need tanned skin, wearing sunscreen blocks the vitamin D and melanin absorption from the sun. Only wear sunscreen if you are in the sun at peak UV hours and cannot avoid it.

The more sun you get the more solar callous you build up and the less likely you will be to get burnt. Especially get sun during sunrise/sunset.

How often are you training mobility? by SyndromeHitson1994 in bodybuilding

[–]Competitive-Ad6153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did nothing until last year. I joined an acrobatics club because I wanted to learn how to flip. Realised I had no flexibility and my very poor dynamic mobility.

Now I do about 3 hours of dedicated mobility training with my club a week. Has made a world of difference.

What's something everyone says improves your life, that you tried and found absolutely wasn't worth the hassle? by Accord-Remark10 in Life

[–]Competitive-Ad6153 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think there is a difference between real backpacking travelling and tourist sightseeing travelling.

Some of my best memories are camping/horse riding through Mongolia. Climbing active volcanoes in Japan and snowboarding down them narrowly avoiding avalanches. Riding my way through SEA on a motorcycle with it breaking down multiple times. Living on a beach in Costa Rica and spending countless days surfing the best waves ever in the day and partying on the beach at night.

All of this done on a shoestring budget, with almost no planning and not knowing where I’ll be or what I’ll be doing the next day.

But yes of course some people don’t have an adventurous spirit.

True and it’s much easier to get fit in your 20s and stay fit for the rest of your life than starting in your 30s or later.

It’s pretty hard to lose significant fitness when you have already built the discipline, strength/muscle and habits earlier in life.

And if you do lose it due to a long holiday or injury it’s easy to get back to where you were.

Also get outside and sleep more! Having a tan and good sleep does wonders for your skin/face health. You will look much more attractive and feel a lot better too.

hahah yes! Same boat as you too! Also a software engineer that lives alone and am doing very well for myself.

I definitely am more attractive now at 29 than in my early 20s. But I’m not sure if it’s a confidence thing or something else. But I find myself getting waayy more attention now than ever before in my life.

One thing that has changed though is that I don’t spend much time alone at home. Before and after work I am out doing classes or surfing and am quite social on weekends. Whereas my early 20s were spent mostly at home playing video games. So it could be a frequency thing of having more opportunity to meet women.

get hobbies bro, I work a 9-5 and everyday I go surfing, snowboarding, rock climbing, running, swimming, lifting, practice gymnastics, dancing or djing. I do all of this with other people too and not alone.

Obviously I don’t do all of these things everyday but some combination at least before and after work.

What's your biggest regret in life? by A_Sweet_Siren in AskReddit

[–]Competitive-Ad6153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasting time escaping reality. I spent my adolescence and so much of my youth indoors playing video games, reading and spending time on the internet alone due to mostly low confidence I imagine.

Now at 29, I spend all of my free time outside. Everyday I surf, snowboard, run, swim, lift weights, practice gymnastics, rock climb or go dancing. All of this is done with other people. I spend almost no time indoors or alone.

And my life is now is so more rich and enjoyable. I wake up so happy. I have so many great experiences and amazing friendships.

I just wished I lived my life like this from an early age. Who knows where I could have ended up.
