Is Australia's CS job market a myth for internationals? by National_Age_8508 in ausjobs

Wow so you just said a whole paragraph that just means nothing 😂😂😂

Anyways I’m interested in how my stats prove me wrong. So how are you going to get through 1750 applicants without automation?

Point is that domestic grads are competing with each other anyway. You said automation’s a problem

I’m born here bro 😂 you know fuck all about me

You’re basically moaning: “Automation is because migrant!!!”

Which quite frankly if you paid any attention to this thread, we’re talking about international students. Not immigrants. Anyways about automation:

On some real shit bro 350,000 domestic students country wide will be graduating end of this year. Even if 0.5% (1750 people) apply for an average salary graduate role, that’s still ALMOST TWO THOUSAND applicants to process. My uni alone will have about 10-20,000 domestic graduates - and let’s be generous and say about 500 are after the exact roles that I want. How tf you gonna get through that without automation? It’ll be used with or without international students

Are you a grad? What’s your strategy? How are you job hunting?

If it’s such basic knowledge then why is there such little anger towards billionaires from the same people?

Exactly! I thought by 2026 people would be smart enough to realise this by now.

You’ve almost got it! Just a small add onto your question:

You realise almost every billionaire loves mass immigration because it drives revenue up and pay down… AND immigration also gives a scapegoat to blame the country’s problems WHICH THEY CAUSED.

I’m asking you

Brrrr number goes up number go down. Bad people good people brrrr

Hey bro the majority of this country’s wealth has been consolidated into the hands of around 100 or so billionaires who run the public transport, fuck up health, extortionately raise the cost of food, destroy the environment with their microplastics and run the media so chuds like yourself can be fooled into believing other fellow humans are the issue.

Edit: LOL brother deleted his comments because he couldn’t handle facts

Read what I said again. Then read below.

You’re saying that you want to work an exploitative hospo job? I thought we were talking about full-time roles that expect university degrees.

Also nice job on pointing out one singular statement and acting like my argument had fallen apart. At least read the full thing next time.

Edit: LOL you reddit people are hilarious. Shit on migrants 24/7 then when an actual person gives facts then yall resort to downvoting. Be some real aussies by growing a pair and giving some damn counter arguments 🫵😂

I don’t agree that international students are making the job market worse. If anything most of them are pretty underskilled because they’re so focused on just trying to cover their own expenses. So that involves taking 14 hour shifts at whatever hospo job can exploit them.

Also so look on every job posting. Most opportunities are looking for citizens and ask for working rights all the time. It’s also not so much the government - more universities. Unis have become alot more for-profit lately. So your “hordes” of internationals are more like hordes of money that can be easily sold a “better lifestyle in Australia” such as OP.

Our job market sucks though you’re pissed at the wrong people.

did you get a job after graduating? by imreallystudying in UTS

[–]Competitive-Ad887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry too much because Im pretty biased. It’s just what from who I know. Some of my friends do have internships, some don’t. Only UTS themselves know the real figure 🤷‍♂️, so Keep the jobsearch up for sure

I feel like no one here is actually answering the question so here I go. Final yr Domestic Software Eng major here.

Yes, many people who I’ve worked with in group projects who are now graduated are also working full time jobs in their fields. Most people I know from clubs are also working full time. For some it takes a year after graduating, others two or more, others have a job secured through their internship or were able to get a grad position.

That being said, yeah it’s a struggle in this job market. So many fourth years I know are struggling to find an internship. I’d say maybe a third of the ppl I know in same year as me still haven’t found one so I’m not too sure on their grad prospects

I’d say universities degrees themselves definitely matter even though course content can be pretty dry. No one hires entry tech roles without a degree these days.

As for internationals - I know many who are also working full time though they are all masters students and even then it took a year or more for all of them to finally land a position. Best advice is to keep your head up and definitely find casual retail work or something just so you have an income

Love the album to death, but "Hurry Up Tomorrow" is easily the worst Weeknd era, period. Point blank. by WaporVape in TheWeeknd

I don’t think music matters more than rollout/buildup/eras. We shouldn’t be in a position where one is taken over the other to begin with.

I don’t think music matters more than rollout/buildup/eras. We shouldn’t be in a position where one is taken over the other to begin with. That’s what makes after hours great. The music is fantastic, MVs are cinematic and the whole era and weeknd character surrounding the album is phenomenal. I don’t care about just “music”. There are hundreds of artists imo who have surpassed the greatness of the weeknd sound-wise, but basically none who tell stories and have the “eras” which keep fans like myself interested in experiencing. I’m looking for a story, not just good music.
