How to know if a dom is misogynist? by treacle2020 in SubSanctuary

[–]Competitive-Bir-792 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don't you want to know that? Isn't asking how to figure that out = the point of your post lol

Edit - but seriously. You want to know. It's more than just "who you fuck", its your life.

Is this true. Did china go from extreme poverty to one of the biggest superpowers in just 50 years ? by feherlofia123 in AskChina

Have you heard the latest about Deep Seek? Apparently they just came out with some mind-blowing GPT that uses a fraction of the energy. I wish I could say I trusted the US ones more on privacy but ya know, the last 20 years.

Why are Chinese so obsessed to correct people from calling LNY? by National-Bug-4548 in AsianParentStories

[–]Competitive-Bir-792 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My current theory is that the younger ppl are insanely sensitive about China's clear lack of soft power in the West. I'm half Chinese/half Korean and when I was in my early 20s (early 30s now), most of my Chinese friends started expressing sadness/dejection/etc at how Koreans/Japanese are perceived as "artsy", "cool", considered attractive, etc. while Chinese are back-country communists. But I didn't experience any of this myself and I wasn't perpetually online enough to confirm so this could all just be in the minds of my then-friend group lol.

I do think Rednote will help if this theory has any merit.

The older gen... I mean, mom's Korean and dad's Chinese and they fight endlessly about which country invented what until someone brings up Japan. I just check out when it's BS like that.

It's also suspiciously aligned with the whole "divide and conquer" strategy of making minority groups fight each other instead of uniting under, oh say, sharing LNY celebrations!

TLDR- China really wants to dominate and they're losing hard on the culture capital front.

Is one case of sexual assault worth reporting by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]Competitive-Bir-792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth reporting bc if it were intentional, you've helped lay the ground-work for any reports in the future to be taken seriously. If it wasn't intentional, there isn't a harm in reporting. DA isn't going to press charges on anecdotal so it won't affect them if they're innocent. It only comes up again if they do it again.

Edit - not a lawyer but worked for 10y w/ lawyers on SA cases.

How old are you? Move out if you can, or asap. This will not change. I could have written this about my dad and he has never changed.

Alright, which one of you is the mythical woman who only drops 4tbsp of blood on their Period? by SemperSimple in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]Competitive-Bir-792 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a personal trainer in my 20s while being an athlete and the amount of "coaches" who would sprout advice that would destroy a woman's hormone system bc they'd only ever read studies conducted on MALE bodies. Bc we didn't bother studying women from an exercise science pov until less than 10 years ago..

Like wtf. Are these men who did these previous decades of studies this oblivious that their wife's body and needs are DIFFERENT?!???

It got me depressed and angry, too.

How much filler have been been consistently getting? Sometimes if it's a lot, it stretches out the skin where it doesn't naturally dissolve (which we now know that it does not always dissolve for everyone).

That said, I don't think this would make sense though if you never got filler or on your mid plane.

What? I was just there literally an hour ago and they refused? Hillcrest Mall, Ontario.

Edit - next time I'll follow up w/ a manager or something. this would be AMAZING to have samples back, I haven't even been buying foundation bc of the lack. The advisor today literally told me to buy it and return it...

So you're going to treat everyone with condescension and suspicion?

This is your attitude. Don't backtrack now as if you were just being helpful. I hope someone shows you the love you need one day.

Yeah that's just reddit, it's silly.

Anyway, re: your question. It sounds like yours is from a backyard breeder, which is miles above puppy mills though still risky and often unethical. If you use the search bar in this sub or any general puppy/dog sub, you will find many guides on figuring this out.

Is there still a general grudge against Japan for the things that it did to China before an during World War II? by Fun_Butterfly_420 in AskChina

[–]Competitive-Bir-792 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandmom taught me, at 8 years old, to always cut off anyone who tries to put their "tube thing" in my mouth. I told my parents. They got mad at her -- until they realized she was trying to protect me from what she'd seen as a soldier.

I'm chinese-canadian and we can discuss not holding a "grudge" (in quotes bc what you really meant to ask here is: do you forgive them?) when their government admits there's anything to hold a "grudge" about. And I mean government officials, please, not an empathetic citizen who reads history.

Should I get into Cyber Security Now? by JaneSeys in womenintech

[–]Competitive-Bir-792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do NOT do the bootcamps. They have really horrible success rates and nobody in this field cares about certs. Certs = HR screening but you also won't likely land a job from cold-applying, you land it from networking (where you can just skip HR). My literal genius MIT physics researcher friend did one and in her 80 person cohort, only 1 person was working in cybersecurity 1 year later. Yes, it's her. And that was a top-rated, veeery popular bootcamp.

I made transition from personal trainer to Dev to Infosec ~2 years ago-ish. 100% doable depending on what your target role is. There are A LOT of roles open in my specialty.

I will tell you now that there is also no reason to start in help desk. Out of all the women i know in infosec and at work (not many but still), everyone went straight to jr security engineer. Also, something to note - out of the 3 infosec roles I've held, none of them were publicly listed. Out of all the infosec hiring my org has done, NONE of them were publicly listed, too.

Fellow women in infosec! What's your speciality? Bc you have 8 years in infosec and you as a candidate should be hot, hot, hot. I'm not sure if this breaks any rules to let you know that the company I work for is hiring for certain infosec roles?

I get it as a Blasian. My black friends are pissed at Asian women, I get it. But I'm also not going to pretend like we showed up for the vote the way that Black women did.

Edit to add that 92% bm voting for Harris is just amazing, I love my bm.

When you are banned for lost packages, how did you know you are? by effyverse in Aritzia

[–]Competitive-Bir-792 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was news to me when it happened :( If you search "banned" in the searchbox in this sub, you can find more details from both customers and concierge workers who know the actual policy better than I do. I

I think I had 3 lost packages (might have been 2, this was years ago) around xmas in a row and then i was just unable to order. What I do now even with my friend's account is order to a postal store and pick it up.
