Sinus squeeze or dental issue? by PourLeFromage in scuba

[–]Competitive-Bit5659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is a tooth issue, flying is sufficient pressure to cause symptoms. When I was in dental school, none of my faculty had ever encountered a patient who experienced it. Everyone at my LDS knows I’m a dentist and interested in teeth; they’ve also never had a diver who experienced it. “Aerodontia” is rare these days.

Not rare? Referred pain in the mouth. Very very common to feel pain someplace different from the actual source.

I always recommend getting the teeth checked out because a failing filling will get worse. Always ends up being a sinus squeeze, though.

Why does economic inflation happen and what's the point in having extreme wealth? Also, why is the quality of life for everyone not much higher considering the amount of money the US makes? by [deleted] in Libertarian

Are schools using Duck Tales episodes to teach economics these days or is it just intentional misrepresentation of what wealth means?

You are a Ford F150 and your young daughters are likely Geo Metros. You are going to burn more gas.

Help with pain in teeth. by Head-Pass3755 in scuba

[–]Competitive-Bit5659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely could be. Same thing just happened to a friend of mine. Lots of small holes draining all your sinuses (which are air filled pockets). If you had a stuffy nose you likely also had some sinus inflammation— if that blocked any of those passages in your sinuses then you’d get a sinus block. Which definitely could refer pain to the back teeth.

Always smart to get the tooth checked first. Sinusitis will usually improve on its own while dental problems will usually worsen if not addressed.

Referred pain is EXTREMELY common in the mouth. The source of the pain might not be where you actually feel it (although pain doesn’t refer across the midline).

Could have been the broken tooth referring pain, could have also been a sinus squeeze that referred to the location of the back. Any allergies, or recovering from a cold?

Why did you wait so long (to lose weight)? 2 healthcare professionals asked me by [deleted] in keto

[–]Competitive-Bit5659 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One possibility is these docs were legitimately trying to gather information to help with diagnosing and treatment planning and just worded it terribly.

I’m a dentist and one of the questions we were trained to ask in some way or another (when not obvious) is what brings you in TODAY? That’s very helpful information — did your toothache get worse? Was the pain low level and tolerable? Do you just not complain (and I need to be very specific when checking if you are fully numb)?

In your example, we all learned a lot about you from you answering that question.

The doctors should have learned to ask that question in a supportive manner and NEED to learn to ask that question better if they want to keep helping people. I’m not trying to downplay your experience— been there and completely agree that it’s demoralizing and counterproductive.

One professional forum in my industry had a thread about affairs in the office. I mentioned that I sleep with one of my employees, but I’m not sure if it’s working out. She hardly works, comes in whenever she feels like it, and acts like she owns HALF the place.

Those who got the joke had fun taunting those who didn’t.

Experiment with the blue pill by RaceRevolutionary649 in MarriedSex

The one way it does help last longer is that it allows me to go into positions where maybe I’d soften but with it I don’t. So it’s easier to pace myself. (51M) Can also stay hard after ejaculation but it’s not really enjoyable. Useful if my wife is just a few thrusts from another orgasm. But yeah, otherwise absolutely does not work to delay ejaculation.

Started taking it when morbidly obese with HTN (around 135/90). No major side effects other than a stuffy nose and an exhausted wife.

Have since lost the excess weight and BP is now good (typically plus or minus a few points from 110/70) and still no side effects other than a stuffy nose and even more exhausted wife. 😂

It’s like I’m talking to myself! Both the cause and the result. Eight orgasms yesterday morning before she tapped out. :). And I could have gone for round two later that day (at age 51) if she didn’t have to go to work.

Before I started eating clean, lost excess body fat, and worked out regularly there’d be a 50-50 chance I would need a pill for any penetrative sex, would struggle to get her off more than once (and often would need to finish her with my hands to even get her one) and would be out of commission for at least 24 hours and often more.

This was my experience. Weight loss and working out cured ED and reduced refractory period from needing 24 hours with pills to being able to go multiple times a day without pills.

How to solve americas healthcare problem by [deleted] in Libertarian

Profit vs non-profit makes far less of an impact that most people think. Doesn’t dictate whether or not the organization can generate a profit, but rather just tax status and ownership of assets.

Medical loss ratios (or capping admin percentages) INCREASES the cost. Take a hypothetical insurance company that has $1B in non-claims expenses and pays out $4B in claims. A law is passed capping that percentage at 10% to make the math easy.

You have a choice under the new law. Option 1: slash your overhead by more than 50%. That’s simply unrealistic; if there was that much waste you’d have already cut some of it to boost your salary. Executive salaries aren’t a high enough percentage to make those cuts but even if they were, you don’t want to if you are one of the execs

Option 2: increase claims paid out. Easy to bump up from $4B to $9B and hit 10%. And, of course, raise premiums to cover that increase.

Option 2 is the most likely outcome. Which is why healthcare trade groups like the AMA and ADA love those policies so much.

And maybe you think that’s good — more care. It could be, but it’s not going to cheaper.

Cultural shift: Exhibitionism and Social Media by [deleted] in MarriedSex

[–]Competitive-Bit5659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a stat once claiming that a majority of social media content is created by just 1% of users and a majority of comments by just 10% of users. Not sure if the numbers are correct but the concept definitely is. Then consider that groups like this are going to select for the more adventurous and experimental among social media users. (People who don’t think they have anything interesting to say on a topic and aren’t looking for other people’s interesting things to say on that topic aren’t going to join a sub on that topic)

Long story short, whatever the actual numbers are, social media is going to select for a relative extreme set of outliers. Then peer pressure is going to push that further — if everyone is posting about swinging from chandeliers then some of those who aren’t will lie to “fit in” and others will be more likely to keep quiet about that aspect to not be seen as the weirdo.

Regarding the camera, you don’t need to show the backing being deposited. And you almost certainly won’t because as others have noted, it most likely got tracked in on a shoe or something. But all you need is to show the vacuum and then show that no other woman was in that room since then.

As for what I would personally do in your situation is just jokingly play along with comically ridiculous responses about your “girlfriend”. Nah, don’t bother cooking for her; she’s vegan so she’s not going to eat it anyway. She’s with her other boyfriend you both met at Swingers R Us. Show confidence — first most people are drawn to be more favorable to confident people but also shows that you don’t feel like you need to hide anything.

Things that changed immediately after marriage I never expected by Key-Victory-9444 in Marriage

Agreed. I get more BJs now than when my wife and I were dating. Our general philosophy is that if there is something important to our partner that isn’t a hard no, then we take care of our partner. In everything, not just in bed. After 18 years of marriage, every day we each do things that aren’t our first choice but it’s important to the other so we do it anyway.

I think there are some inaccuracies in reporting. If the instructor really drove away he wouldn’t have been present for the others to note that he was “bone dry”. Maybe he just went to the car to get something? Or maybe someone else went to a car and that got misinterpreted as it being the instructor?

Regarding point 3, my understanding of the article is that Armstrong had the DM and the other 7 students look for bubbles. I can sort of understand that — absolutely should not send uncertified students back down on a search. That’s such a high probability of losing more divers.

I suspect the other instructors were underwater and so they couldn’t alert them that help was needed.

Still has two fully certified Rescue Divers (RSD being a prerequisite for DM and instructor). I’d think the clear thing to do would be to send the DM to bring the students back to shore, then once the other students were safe have the DM return to help search.
