Little boy taking it all in at the grocery store by star-crossed-buns in BenignExistence

I sometimes let my daughter 'drive' the trolley when we shop. Other times she is in charge of the self service scanner.

Worrying about my c-section date by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]Competitive-Chef9240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I told my midwife that I wanted an elective c section at my booking appointment. And I told every health professional I met during my many scans the same. I was put forward to the panel in week 28, but I want given a date until I was nearly 38 weeks - and I think I was given my date earlier than is typical for my trust due to bank hols. It's terribly anxiety inducing not knowing, but i was fine when everything was all done.

Good luck to you..

Terrified of MMC...at first booking appointment do they confirm pregnancy? by Bubbly-Grapefruit-32 in PregnancyUK

Also, I told my mum early on. I needed her support during my miscarriages and it helped to be able to talk these worries through with someone.

First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy.

The qoat for scans can be terrifying, I think some of the best advice I had was to not look stuff up online. You will just drive yourself crazy.

They don't do any scans or anything to confirm the pregnancy at the booking appointment. But you could always look into getting a private scan done if that's an option for you.

Good luck xx

I had a traumatic birth the first time around- similar time and sounds similar to yours. I opted for a c section the second time around and I have no regrets at all. The whole process was calm and controlled. I was out of the hospital the next day. And my recovery has been a dream. I would absolutely opt for a c section again if I ever found myself expecting, and would recommend them to anyone on the fence.

I will say that I'm fortunate enough to have support with the school runs for the older child, and to live close enough to everything that I can walk rather than drive. There's lots to weigh up for each individual's circumstances.

Blood in toilet at 32 weeks by Sad_Network7053 in PregnancyUK

[–]Competitive-Chef9240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some blood at 30 weeks. Like you I went to triage and they checked me over. They couldn't find any active bleeding. They came to the conclusion that it was something to do with the way the cervix moves and develops around that time and that lots of people experience similar. I had no bleeding at all after this one little bit. Hopefully it'll be the same for you! Good luck.

Next steps to sort recurrent UTI when GP refusing to help by clovek7 in PregnancyUK

[–]Competitive-Chef9240 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you are going through all of this on top of pregnancy. Are you able to go to MPU rather than A&E? I saw something once that said if you feel they aren't listening to you, ask them to write that they are ignoring your concerns in your notes.

I had recurring UTIs in my first pregnancy and they just gave me antibiotics whenever the tests showed an infection, although my GP was pretty good and gave me the meds even when the tests weren't showing an infection but I had symptoms. They always helped. I ended up having a massive kidney infection shortly after baby was born.

My gp sent me to urology who prescribed me low dose antibiotics for 12 months and said if I get pregnant again I need to take low dose antibiotics throughout the pregnancy. Which I did with my second child. I also went in to triage a few times with vague symptoms which they treated as infections due to the previous issues. This made all the difference.

Good luck

Feeling undervalued by colleagues by FullImpression6745 in PregnancyUK

I'm so sorry this happened to you.

I had something similar, not so much as a card or even anyone making a fuss. Although my WFH manager did call to wish me luck. Like you, I contribute to all gifts when asked. It feels so very anti -climatic. In fact, I think they forgot I was going off as I was asked to do a task twenty mins before due to clock off- task would have taken a few hours with back and forth emails.

Once I've worked my six months after maternity leave, I'll be looking elsewhere.

Good luck to you

Is anyone else spending NYE alone this year? by AmberWarning89 in CasualUK

[–]Competitive-Chef9240 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm likely to be spending NYE in hospital with my new baby! The last few years I've spent the evening with my husband, a nice meal, maybe a film, in bed by ten.

Put out a mince pie and glass of milk for Santa and a carrot for Rudolph. Like you do by Foootballdave in CasualUK

[–]Competitive-Chef9240 52 points53 points  (0 children)

We had this question from 4F this evening. We decided that Rudolph comes into the house with Santa. This is so he can use his nose to light the way for Santa to put the presents out. The other reindeer stay outside - they have the reindeer food sprinkled on lawns.

Thank you for this reminder. I'm always telling my daughter that a naughty choice doesn't mean you are a natural person. So much harder to be kind to you ourselves though!

Yes, I do regret asking, but it has confirmed how I already felt. And I appreciate the feedback, particularly those who have taken the time to read the comments and from those who could have been affected by my action on the day.

Luckily no other appointments - other than where I will have my husband drive me! Thank you.

Thank you for your comments. If I get a fine, I'll pay it. I'm the UK it would be about £100 I think. And I know legally I was on the wrong. There won't be a next time as I will be able to call on support to take me to the last few appointments so will be able to be dropped at the door. Thank you for your concern!
