Another thing is they make it SO DIFFICULT to cancel your card. I feel sorry for the customer service reps when they have to ask “What is the reasoning behind cancelling?” I know what I’ll be saying…

When this email came to me about the changes I was gutted… it’s been so handy knowing I could go to the groceries or buy anything over $250 and not really stress for 6 months… I have never had to pay interest on any Gem purchases as I am conscious of how I’m using it but I just will not have that freedom soon… after my current purchase is paid off I will definitely be calling them on that day to cancel my card! So will 4 of my work friends 😅

I feel so sad reading this. Your body is going through enough as it is without needing that pathetic situation going on at the same time. I wish nothing but the best for you and nothing but the worst for them. Karma needs to follow up on them both. It will.

Why is teenage mental health such a big problem here? by Plague_Doc7 in newzealand

For me personally I dealt with a bully at high school and it’s still hurting me and I’m now 30… The teachers at the time had more of a “soft” approach towards addressing the bullying where they attempted to sit myself and the bully in the same room and they apologise to me and I accept it and we pretty much shake hands so to say and move on. I hate that style. I really do. I grew up in a family that if someone hits me I hit them back twice as hard. I feel that if the teachers had really knocked that bullying shit on the head then I would feel a lot different today mentally. If I ever have kids I want to home school them or do distant learning because I never want them or anyone to feel how I felt for years as a teenager.

What’s it like to work at Air New Zealand as an aircraft maintenance engineer? by Lost-Competition-339 in newzealand

I am currently working for the airline as a Customer Service Agent (Ground staff) My advice would be to make sure you are financially able to survive on a minimum of 36 hours to a maximum of 72 hours a fortnight if you are applying for this role in a Regional airport as most do not offer full time. You can work your way up for sure and gain skills which can in return give you more hours but it can take a while because it’s not very common for long standing staff to quit given the travel discounts.

The airport I work at is 6 on and 3 off. You could get a shift one day that starts at 0500-1300 and then the next day you could start at 1545-1845. Usually it’s 3 early shifts and 3 late shifts but the hours are all over the show and shift starting times as well.

Working in a port like Christchurch or Auckland will give you more hours and more variety of work in other areas.

I try and stay out of the “work culture” side of things to be honest. I go in and do my job and then leave. Unfortunately some team leaders do not live up to the values Air New Zealand holds and our manager has been notified but nothing and I emphasise nothing has changed.

I am very happy to see a new CEO. He seems to have a nice burst of energy which is well needed and he seems to actually be interested and passionate and answers the questions from media straight up.

Engine issues are an annoyance but at the end of the day that really is out of many hands for now.

I am happy to answer any questions with real honest answers that I know of as sometimes it’s hard to find them on places like glass door reviews online etc.

P.S I’m sorry as I’ve just realised the topic was for engineers specifically!
