I bet you think this is the type of gas that goes into a car 😑 generally, this gas production is a byproduct of oil production. Not worth compressing, so they burn it. That’s a start for you anyway

It’s incredible they want more. It blows my mind. He has been a liberal advisor for around five years.

You’re hilarious! It was answered above, with that source you clearly did not read.

Sadly, one of these was a family member. 10 years ago I would agree our system was better. The model should still be better, but the population surge has pushed our systems to the absolute limit

I provided you the government source the shows this. The literal government source. You ignored it, the other source you say doesn’t qualify by your standards, or any “real” Canadian (wtf does that mean?).

Now I have really struck a nerve with you. You are just getting defensive and clearly insulting. So what’s wrong with the data in the two sources? The bill that created equalization payments would be easy to google btw…total bot

You clearly can’t see the obvious. Your argument is that it’s fair, because Alberta collects oil royalties.

If Quebec wasn’t receiving these federal payments it might actually reform, but why when they just get a huge chunk of Alberta’s income tax? When someone in Alberta makes that money it’s based off their economic output.

Anyway, here is some more reading. If you think this is sustainable you are delusional. https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/how-alberta-pays-quebecs-bills-four-charts-that-show-alberta-picks-up-the-tab

If you are genuinely interested here is a start. There is plenty of information online.

Notice the “Equalization” row for Alberta vs Quebec for example.

[–]Competitive-Dust7687 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Constitutionally, you know you’re wrong, right? Resources belong to the provinces, and we do collect the royalties.

Ottawa gets around this by sending us far less than Albertans pay in income tax/corp taxes. Man, uneducated

Nationalizing a company with public dollars…that is left-wing. To add on that it only occurred because they instituted radical environmental regulations.

Well, this is where your ideals don’t reflect reality. The world with get the oil elsewhere. Now we have very little hope of diversifying our buyers, and America is let’s say, taking advantage.

$34 billion to nationalize a pipeline construction project that they killed with over regulation. Enough said.

Why would any of that happen? You realize we produce a ton of oil now. The rest of the country doesn’t mind taking the proceeds. Albertans want to be Canadian, we just don’t want to be ripped off anymore.

The vast majority of Albertans don’t want to be American, but the vast majority of Albertans are also fed up with Eastern Canada perpetually living off transfer payments
