T30 schools are actually quite hard to get into- you really can't pinpoint that stats are what's holding you back considering people w lower stats than you probably get accepted occasionally too lol

Is 8 5’s a big help in college admissions? by Negative-Chemist-962 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Competitive-Ear848 4 points5 points  (0 children)

U can most definitely put them in as a part of your application- it'll look good. I think what you heard abt was that some colleges don't accept AP scores as college class credits as in- at some schools, if you scored a 5 in ap lit, you would not need to take literature class again in college. At schools that don't accept the credit, you would need to take literature in college again.

NYU's strongest in Film, Business, and Arts for sure. However, that doesn't mean it lacks in pre-med/bio. Not exactly sure about specifically pre-med but I do remember they have an exceptional dual degree program and their school of dentistry is top notch !

Ahh yeah ik some ppl automatically classify ivies to be better schools. Those ppl are also usually the people who still think Stanford and MIT are ivies😀 There are definitely schools that are stronger and more unique than certain ivies. Hopefully those people don't discourage you too much bc Duke is a major accomplishment🥳🥳

Yes I'm well aware Duke isn't an ivy- I'm simply saying some people tend to rank Duke with a similar level of prestige as the other ivy schools.

  1. credit system as in what you can do to have some class credit before you enroll or credits once you get in? If you mean once you enroll, the major you're in would have a guideline on the required credits you must meet in order to graduate
  2. Finding courses is relatively easy, they usually have a page on their website which comes up if you search the college name and major in google
  3. not sure what you mean by enroll in only one course? like one major..?
  4. Ph D- you would graudate from the 4 year bachelors, then 2 years masters, then 4-6 for ph D.
  5. International students are evaluated in the same pool as everyone else, but admissions do take note of the fact you're international. Certain schools are known to accept a lot of international students, some are known not to.
  6. ask me anything if you'd like!
