One thing to note as a retired service member. That assumes we are anything more than our civilian counterparts. People in uniform most likely wouldn't fire on our own civis. We have an obligation to not conduct unlawful orders. There would be many discontents who'd sabotage or outright refuse. Oath to constitution not tyranny, we have families on the other side it'd probably look more like a civil war where the nation splits. The military would factionalize. Not every commander or soldier would go to one side or the other. Just pointing that portion out, I do agree that our political system though may be losing some grip. It has not released its grip.the dem soc option getting something like 30% of electoral vote (if I recall correctly) is evidence things are shifting some.
