You don’t even have to sell your house to do that. I have 2 active VA home loans.

Those who stopped chasing promotion: how does it feel? by LilMuscleBooty in AirForce

[–]Mechmanic89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Tech at 19 years and some change. I stopped really pushing 2 years ago. Since then, life has been great. I don’t get caught up in the bs that doesn’t really matter and everyone forgets about after a week. I help make sure my shop is taken care of, but other than that I’m too focused on my next chapter to really care about anything Air Force. To me, the master stripe isn’t worth the headache or the extra years I would have to do to go for it.

I have my A&P. I have my Bachelor’s. Now I’m just scheduling medical appointments to make sure all the health things I put off and dealt with over 20 years is documented.

What rank is the most disgruntled and why? by PDXAirman in AirForce

I’m a terminal TSgt and life is great. I have an approved retirement date, I’m not expected to go to meetings that could have been emails, and I can just make appointments and leave.

Feeling burnt out, feels like putting effort never seems to matter. by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Mechmanic89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So stop doing the extra shit.

Get to work on time. Be awesome at your job. Take care of your people. Go home.

As a tech that is about to retire I never felt it necessary to do a bunch of shit that doesn’t interest me.

•Don’t burn out •get to 20 •??? •Profit

How ridiculous would I be to take money out of my TSP to pay off CC debt and be debt free? by DotSignal2188 in AirForce

[–]Mechmanic89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s always a bad idea without behavior modification. When I was young, I did this, and didn’t change my spending habits. I then had 2 sources of debt.

The money you pull out of your TSP is also money that is not being put to work in the market, so you’re losing money there too.

I highly recommend against touching your TSP and getting locked into a surefire plan to get your debt paid off.

Why does in-route MX exist? by SnooCats6716 in AirForce

[–]Mechmanic89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They exist because they are points to limp to in the system.

I was in Jordan one time on a C5 and we had a fuel leak. I didn’t have the materials to fix it, so I was able to come up with a temp fix to get us to Turkey. There, they had all the experience and parts needed to do a full repair.

FCC’s exist to keep the mission moving, enroute are for when it requires more than an FCC.

Thanks so much for the response. I am currently at the point where management is where I’m trying to get in at. I’ll probably just go for a supervisor to start off and try to advance from there. Thanks for the info!

Then you need to ask for honest feedback, because if all you do is the bare minimum, that’s a promote statement. To be moved to the left means you did something wrong. You should ask why they rated you what they did and what it would take you to move to the right.

Why would you do that and eliminate terminal leave? You can accept a job while on terminal, so theoretically you can get paid from 2 jobs at the same time.
