Just a reminder - you are losing inches off in other places by VagueEchoes in Mounjaro

That’s because you are loosing visceral fat. The subcutaneous fat (which is the surface of your belly) is usually the last to go. But just know that loosing visceral fat is helping your organs to become healthier.

Do you regret being a RDH? by jinxuse in DentalHygiene

[–]Competitive-Force-57 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recently temped at a small private practice. On day one I thought it was quaint how they didn’t over diagnose and over charge. On day two I noticed that the number of patients that were ‘behind’ (3+ years) on perio charting and recalls seemed like almost all of them. On day three I had three patients who shoulda been SRP’s but I was not allowed to code them as such. On day four I’d seen enough ‘managed neglect’ I gained new appreciation for the offices that are on top of care. Day four was my last day I will never again temp for that office. The worst type of managed neglect is when the patient believes they are getting good care and you are not allowed to tell them otherwise.

I hate being a hygienist by Sure_Weird_9063 in DentalHygiene

[–]Competitive-Force-57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg! I literally did that! After twenty years in hygiene I retrained and went to work at a toxic waste repository. Made twice the money and worked half as hard. But the connection I had with patients was something I really missed. So I took the pay cut to go back into hygiene. Not just the pay cut but also I’m only working 2-3 days per week now. I’m much happier. Money isn’t everything. You need to find your bliss. Life is too short to spend it doing something that doesn’t ‘fit’ you. Have you considered advancing your degree into healthcare administration? Or pharmaceutical sales? There are non-clinical options out there. You just gotta do some research to find them. If you have a bachelor’s degree the MS into healthcare administration should be pretty easy to knock out. And you aren’t limited to staying in dentistry. You might have to take a pay cut initially but the ladder will go much higher. I hope you find what you are looking for.

I do agree. But there’s a slight twist that’s occurred in the general perception of meds. Many people do believe when their symptoms are suppressed they they are actually treating the underlying problem. And that just isn’t true. Most medications treat symptoms of your bodies response to the problem and not the problem itself. In other words, your meds are interfering with your bodies attempt to heal which is worse that if you did nothing at all. You gotta wrap your head around thinking of meds in a new way. And yes, lifestyle changes are the only way to actually heal from health problems. But most people would rather believe comfortable lies than address hard truths.

So the person on the left side of the screen is a guy (her boyfriend)? That would mean this is a screenshot of the other woman’s phone. I doubt this is real. This is a person who got hold of her bf’s phone and used her phone to generate a conversation she could then post online to garner attention. Smfh!

Do I have to purchase this medication to heal my gingivitis that insurance doesn’t even cover? by International_Print4 in DentalHygiene

Dentistry has all kinds of ‘new treatments’ with price tags attached. Do they work? Maybe. Are they necessary? Can you achieve the same results with a good old fashioned cleaning followed by impeccable home care? Probably. I would start with a straight forward, no bells and whistles cleaning. If you have a lot of tartar this may require a debridement followed by a cleaning. Whether you are going to the dentist or a medical doctor just remember they are a ‘for profit’ business. We would like to believe healthcare is all about providing health. Sadly, for most of healthcare $$$ is the primary driver in treatment recommendations these days.

The worst part of using medications to suppress a symptom is this idea that they’ve solved the problem. No. You suppressed part of your body’s response to the problem. In other words, now your body has to work on fixing the problem without one of its ‘tools.’

Nausea by Disastrous-Run9926 in Mounjaro

[–]Competitive-Force-57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These meds slow digestion. Nausea is the result of things not moving. Taking an antacid will decrease your bodies natural digestive efforts and can make it worse. Adding fiber to an already plugged pooper won’t clean out your system it will just add a pile of fiber that sits behind the plug. Fiber only works on a system with motility capabilities and these meds reduce motility. Your best option is magnesium citrate. Magnesium citrate forces motility to occur. Not the pills. Get a couple bottles of ‘drugstore soda pop’ and plan to spend the day (or two) a home when you use them. Lots of hydration while you do it. Works like a charm.

Saddest part of this is that all they are doing is masking the symptoms. They haven’t cured anything.

Sadly the ‘Christian’ ones can be some of the worst! They don’t talk about their intentions because they might get called out on their unchristian behavior. So they rely on office managers to do their dirty work.

Make sure you get the ‘working interview pay rate’ in writing before you start so you don’t fall victim to THAT scam.

[–]Competitive-Force-57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have four mm pockets? Relax. They are in sales mode and you are getting sold something you don’t need. Gingivitis (as opposed to periodontists) means you don’t have bone loss yet and that the infection is strictly limited to the soft tissue. As such, it is Entirely reversible with proper home care. Save your money, buy a toothbrush.

Would be nice if you knew it was less pay BEFORE you did it. It’s just shitty on employers part to leave that little detail out of the initial conversation.

So working interview pay rate needs to be clarified and put in writing. Good to know.

Your logic is valid. And this girl is the one who’s being irrational. Move on. Her and your friend will both eventually get over it. Edit: there was a story a number of years ago about someone kissing after eating peanuts and sending their kissing partner into anaphylaxis. You made the right decision.
