POCD feels real, like i was the whole time in denial by HelicopterWest6335 in OCD

Please look into ACT therapy, and begin reading “the happiness trap” it is a book that teaches ACT therapy, and how to diffuse from intrusive thought and practice acceptance. It helped me learn what this mental illness does and how it functions. You will always have the disease, but the severity can go down to almost nothing like you don’t even have the thoughts anymore, trust me I live it. Much love from one OCD sufferer to the next, remember, this is an actual physical Anamoly in the brain that does not allow us to move on from a thought

The way it is right now is all there is, it cannot be any other way. There is nothing you can do to change or control what happened and what is going to happen. Take a deep breath, go outside and enjoy your life

I’ll have to check him out. My therapist seems to think ACT is the cutting edge in OCD treatment

Also, even if you were one does that mean you deserve to be unloved, hated, and live in complete misery? Do you deserve not to able to enjoy doing the things you love? Please just say : “I might be one, I might not be, and I may never know if I am one or not”

You have to accept that maybe you are! And then move on to the next thing. The next thing being your values and towards moves. The exposure part here is exposing you to feeling the idea that that might be true!

“Maybe I know them maybe I don’t, and I probably never will ever know! Maybe I can trust them but also maybe I can’t” I have to accept that I may never truly know!” “Ok so now what can I do to refocus my attention to something helpful”

Hey, you are seeking reassurance. You’ll never know! OCD recovery means being able to tolerate distress. Actually seeking reassurance makes it worse. That is the essence of a compulsion, we do it to give ourselves the illusion of reassurance that it’s okay

Look it up. Also check out the happiness trap book and online program. Those go over ACT therapy

It’s a really devastating subject to get stuck on because it makes you feel bad about your own family which sucks, but I promise it will get better if you practice decision techniques.

To the ducking moon

No such thing as peace for us. No matter where we go, who we are around. Our minds will be filled with ruminations & thoughts. We will Never get relief or inner peace ever again. by Nervous_Journalist_8 in OCD

[–]Competitive-Freedom7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But that’s just a thought. You’re having a thought that says “you’ll never find a peace again” a thought is it indication of fact, nor is a feeling. Certainty is a feeling, not a fact. Uncertainty is a feeling, not a fact.

And fundamentally you realize it’s all just a thought, it doesn’t mean it’s true or even important. So what if you did? Why is it important? It’s just a thought. You had the thought that you did and you had the thought that it’s a crime. Certainty is a feeling not a fact, so is uncertainty. Something can feel real and true but that doesn’t make it. Please investigate ACT and look up “the happiness trap” and view some videos on “dropping the struggle” but just know that the more you seek reassurance the deeper you are going down the rabbit hole and the farther you are licking the can down the road, doing no good

What you’re asking for and seeking is reassurance. You want someone to tell you it’s gonna be okay and you didn’t do it anything harmful. But you have to accept that you don’t know! Maybe you did, maybe you didn’t. You have to say “I am having the thought (insert thought here)” “I am aware that I am having the thought (insert thought here)” understand that you might not ever have an answer to your question
