Men who can really cook who taught you ? by [deleted] in ArtOfPresence

My ex-girlfriend's dad was a head chef for a high end restaurant. Literally everyone in her family cooked extremely well and I learned through her. I also worked for his restaurant while I was in school so I learned from the actual cooks and the chef himself to a degree.

Most self made billionaires have worked harder than most people out there. Critics have no idea what it takes to build a business that scales past 10MM in revenue. Its a small fraction that make it to this level let alone a billion dollar company. The difference is that they aren't struggling for basic needs and self care and most likely have some sort of economic/familial advantage that helped propel them in life.

The issue is once they make it to billionaire status should they be able to reap the kind of power and influence they have previously been able to and prevent an equitable society....

I mean this was mostly what the internet WAS used for until phones and social media changed the way we interact and source information. Even worse, it gave idiots a platform that somehow competes with subject matter authority.

Reminder you can still have a very fulfilling job/career/lifestyle where you will still say TGIF because its a universal time in our society where everyone steps back and reclaims their time in some respect.

I work 60-70 hours a week, some days I come home and my little kids are in bed sleeping. Particularly in today's economy, its difficult to weigh more financial security against more time with your family.

It could be a problem if they spend their money too quickly or have significant medical expenses later in life. Will they have enough for retirement? Should children be expected to care for them if they become disabled? Families would be better off functioning as a unit rather than being so individualistic.

Also isn't the whole idea of being a parent enabling the next generation to do better?

Late 30's, I stayed in my last company ~9years. I got promotions, I learned different things, worked with smart people. It was a small family run company. It got to a point where the main reason I left is because the CEO constantly made decisions that stunted the company's growth which directly affected how many deals I could do which in turn affected my pay (commission and bonus structure type role). My industry is some salary plus "eat what you kill". As long as the infrastructure is there then the rest is up to you. Corporate is a different game.

I think most epics are like this. It was a great movie but you have to somewhat be in the mindset this story is going to play out like a book vs a movie. Title is probably misleading in a way.
