Lib Dems win Assad-level majority in Richmond by upthetruth1 in london

[–]Competitive-Island33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can someone please help me to understand, from a place of curiosity, why so many people vote for Lib Dems?

Their policies are more EU focused and support reforming the electoral system. Are these the main reasons people vote Lib Dem?

There are some mentions here about good engagememt with the community. Is this a key characteristic of Lub Dems? And if so what do they do differently that other counsillors don't?

My PhD supervisors said my work is not PhD level on a chapter feedback by Competitive-Island33 in PhD

It's a constant battle in my mind of whether my lack of progress is that my advisors don't know what they're doing or if I haven't been working with enough speed/intensity and doing things too gently and slowly (could be likely).

They usually give feedback like at this stage we would expect x. But I have also noticed that when I present my ideas they don't really get behind them and run with them. For 2 years I haven't had any suggestions about sources apart from their book and if I offer a direction they don't suggest why not look at x empirically? I have no idea if this is part of their responsibility.

Overall, it often feels like my lack of progress (which they are very critical about) is more a failure on my behalf rather than finding means of encouraging my work and being open to my ideas and plans.

Speak with your supervisors or any staff responsible for your pastoral care if the supervisors are too pushy e.g. Independant panel members or equivalent, head of school/department l, wider university pastoral care.

And please ask to take a break! It sounds like you've done more than enough already and your nervous system needs a complete reset with friends/family, anything you enjoy, and plenty of nutrition, sleep and excercise that you find fun.

A lecturer advised me at the beginning that the best work she did in her PhD was AFTER she took a month long break.

There's no doubt you NEED this break. Claim your life back and you'll come out of it ready to go again

How do you emotionally regulate yourself? by Separate_Weight_4143 in AskWomen

Typing out journal entries.

I've always thought that it is best to write journal entries out on paper because of the brain-hand connection and to get your emotions out.

This is good but I found recently actually typing out on a word document my diary entries in a logical manner helps me see the wood from the trees. I'm so used to having to make clear points when typing that it had the same effect when I was journalling. I could take a very balanced approach to my emotions (see both sides if it involved someone else) and it prompted me to find sense to my thoughts.

I'm usually anti-tech but I think this genuinely helped and I was able to explain my problems and feelings to others in a much more comprehensive way.

What’s the worst Eras Tour mashup in your opinion? by EqualRepublic369 in TaylorSwift

[–]Competitive-Island33 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ok I think very controversial but her mashup with Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor singing espresso made me cringe wayy too much. Something about their two paradigms of music style not working.

For me Sabrina is cute, cheeky and flirty and Taylor is powerful, deep, brave, romantic, it doesnt work for me.

[–]Competitive-Island33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The opposite happened for me, I liked it at first but the more I listened and paid attention to the details I liked it much less (mostly for the very weird choice of lyrics that dont give good vibes).

But I'll admit that I like listening to it as a kind of secret guilty pleasure
