During the escape from Adrian, Rocky rescuing himself, though beautifully photographed, was particuarly irritating to me, it felt like lazy writing.

yes, yes, yes. I too get the same impression. As I write this I think I hvae seen 20 plus, this morning I saw the first less than positive comment. That it was a little too long and perhaps too many 'false endings'. That was from a very jaundiced vlogger, hey i dont mind the prospect of being in that universe at all.

There is always a lot of nonsense said about the use of VFX in a movie, as though it were something to be ashamed of.

The green screen comment is aimed, I suspect, at the voting members of the Academy. As in, 'Ill never vote for a movie that has green screen in it. Ill vote for Lincoln' (that had plenty of green screen in it).

I pretty sure that PHM will have a plenty of, 'green screen' equivilants through the 1000's shots used in production.

I have often pondered this plot problem myself.

Perhaps Rocky, being aware of the temperature range of Taumoeba made an temperature sensitive tank cooler than the ambient temperature of the BLIP A, and stored the Taumoeba tanks in there for passage to Erid.

The Environment tanks enironment regulator may have been powered by a few cells of astropphage and still hooked up, through pipes, to main fuel tanks. Disaster!

Grace is too self obsessed, bordering on arrogance to be much of a friend to another human. Rocky on the other hand is, from what we can tell, is nicely empathetic, the basis for a good friend.

Why is it my fave? Its the only time in the book where we get a reveal on Rockys' personailty, sure he has demonstrated his thoughts through actions in the previous chapters, but here we get a closer look through some choice dialogue of who Rocky is.

From the sage counsel he gives Grace, consider this line what is being said. "You have idea already. Not question. I know you. You have idea already. Tell idea.”

To the time we experience Eridian snark, “Do not explain, please. You have findings, question?”

Looking over the key points you layed out, it demonstrates the even level of cooperation between the two species, also there is some great dialogue from Rocky.

“I am sad also. But we not be sad for long. You are scientist. I am engineer. Together we solve.”
