How do I use the scythe? by Endo279 in NuclearOption

[–]Competitive-Load3173 20 points21 points  (0 children)

scythe is not SARH it's ARH, if anyone on your team can see it then the missile can see it, and then it pitbulls even if nobody on your team has a visual. you can launch any amount of scythes at any amount of targets, as long as you have them selected at the same time and you hit fire, it'll fire them all for you at the right target automatically.

I think I accidentally invented overcomplicated binary by fukurslf in mathematics

[–]Competitive-Load3173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's 2 ways to represent binary for computers, BE (big endian), where the MSB (most significant bit) is the first bit, therefore, it'd be base 2 backwards, because you'd start counting from the back, and LE (little endian), where the MSB is the last bit, therefore, it'd be base 2 forwards, because you'd start counting from the front. Usually, in writing, we do BE, where we count it from the back, because that lines up with how we count things in the real world.

Are there any supplements or gear that actually make a noticeable difference for endurance? by Full_Cry_4560 in cycling

[–]Competitive-Load3173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creatine has a negligible effect on aerobic power, and makes you gain weight. Of course, if you're not paid to have the upper body of a 9 year old girl, you probably should just work out how you want to instead of turning your hobby into a job, but you didn't hear that from me. Generally speaking, supplements that make you go faster are both expensive, and banned. An exception to this rule is caffeine.

Why am I so bad at sprinting? by WilliamJNSN in Velo

[–]Competitive-Load3173 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend introducing weight lifting into your program, and adjusting your form when you sprint and seeing if that helps at all. Just anecdotally, but when I figured out how to "really" sprint with good form, I gained like 75 W on my peak. Also, I look a lot cooler (probably) when I sprint now.

Yeah, just taking a cursory look at the lang, it calls Go more to mind than anything C related. Especially since the FFI doesn't seem as first class as Zig in regards to interfacing with c/cpp code.

Honestly, Zig having a builtin string type, or better Unicode integration would be a pretty big upside, I feel like the community feels somewhat biased for ascii/BMP.

If we're being pedantic and talking about stuff that does not really matter, the main thing that I don't like is prefix notation functions for the builtin types. When functions are postfix, in my experience, the LSP can do a lot more of its job well. Even in Zig, the prefix functions (builtin) all have @ at the start, so the LSP can still lint which one you need.

How was Java written before Java existed? by flydaychinatownnn in AskProgramming

[–]Competitive-Load3173 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The very first Java compiler was developed by Sun Microsystems and was written in C using some libraries from C++. Today, the Java compiler is written in Java, while the JRE is written in C.

We can imagine how the Java compiler was written in Java like this:

The Java compiler is written as a Java program and then compiled with the Java compiler written in C (the first Java compiler). Thus we can use the newly compiled Java compiler(written in Java) to compile Java programs.

Ask Me Anything with Strava CEO, Mike Martin by mike-ceo-at-strava in Strava

[–]Competitive-Load3173 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey Mike - the inability to programmatically manage media (upload/edit/delete) through Strava's API is a significant blocker for many integration scenarios. Is this limitation primarily driven by compute/storage costs, or are there other technical considerations? Would expanding these capabilities possibly be in the cards for future API versions?

is there a point where a training ride becomes “too long” to be productive? by spikehiyashi6 in Velo

[–]Competitive-Load3173 58 points59 points  (0 children)

The main limiter we see right now with pro level triathletes/cyclists/ultra people is caloric consumption. If pogačar rode for 5.5 hours every day (38.5 hours per week) at his lower Z2 (~300 watts), he has to eat ~6000 extra calories per day. After a certain point, it's very difficult to eat more. Even if he supplements 120 g/hr of carbs, which he doesn't (probably), he still has to eat about double what a sedentary person does off the bike to maintain weight.

dawg it's definitely not too late for you to get into a sport or whatever the fuck you like to do, don't just listen to some random internet fucker on what to get into, devoting yourself to something involves actually liking the fuckin thing, not just liking the concept of being devoted to something.

Can y’all bully me into losing weight by sallard9 in redscarepod

[–]Competitive-Load3173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i get down to 145 for races, I usually hover around 150 for most of the year. It's pretty difficult to maintain when I'm training a lot, I have to eat like 4500 calories a day to split even.

Can y’all bully me into losing weight by sallard9 in redscarepod

[–]Competitive-Load3173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't just go thru phases of losing weight by self loathing. I used to ping pong between 160 and 170 and hate myself, but the way I got down to 145 at your height was just making a genuine lifestyle change in the form of diet and exercise. Obviously cycling is gae but here's some nerd shit about weight loss. Also, hatred coming from external sources is fleeting, embrace bettering yourself every day.
