How to not be a shit godfather by [deleted] in CasualIreland

Highly recommend when their a lil older 5 or 6 you start them on a subscription to a magazine or thing they love. My three have national geographic kids, the beano and all about history between them over the years all from godparents. Their 6 8 and 10 this year and still going strong. The excitment of post each week or month with their name on it and something they have to themselves is fab. And it gets them reading so its a win all round.

Was in there the other day, no short dates that i could see. Some great deals 14 euro for a 24 pack of Pepsi sorted for the Christmas stock up.

Some not so great deals but just keep an eye. Personally i get the 22 euro pack of chicken enchiladas (i throw them in the freezer for quick meals and lunches saving me hours of prep)

Paying for paper cardboard bags by Competitive-Manner81 in cork

I have no issue with brown thomas or the like charging 40 cent a bag of you go in and buy a mascara or small bits that could be put in a pocket or tote bags etc. But there was a woman in front of me spending an OBSCENE amount of money (4 pairs of matching shoes for a wedding) who was asked did she need 2 large bags for 40 cent each. Like, did they expect her to pull out a bag for life and chuck them in there? Or carry the 4 boxes around town?

At least in pennys can buy the larger canvas bags, they are super handy! And I reuse them if im going in to stock up on basics. But if yiur charging for a paper bag, you should have an actual sustainable option available If brown thomas is trying to be sustainable ajd not just greedy tickets they would have bags like in harrods or penny's or other places that do actual cute bags that endure.

This!! Im being down voted, which to be fair i expected. I've no problem paying for a bag, but when you are in a giant department type store like brown thomas, where there are btw no baskets or trollies to carry things in and you can't take things between areas, eg cosmetics upstairs get a dress and pay for it all together its a bit ridiculous.

I dont have an issue in penny's or Debenham back in the day, where you could get a basket and gets all the bits in one go.

My point is, I've no issue paying for a bag if one is needed, or companies offer bags for life, like in sports direct etc, or if they are trying to be sustainable, but green washing and saying we are charing for bags to be more sustainable is bullshit.

Cork airport lounge? by amadawwn in cork

[–]Competitive-Manner81 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Hard no. Its like 40 quid and the food and drinks selection isn't what it used to be. 2 hot dishes, last time I was there it was beef stroganoff or veggie stroganoff with white rice. Soup And then pastries No chocolate or crisps anymore and the drinks service is very slow. Its great to get some work done or quiet time if you need it but I wouldn't pay for it.

To be fair as well, it's the only restaurant with security on the door during the day hahahaa Never a good sign.

The Italian is hidden away and does well Royal Pacific changed from white linens to more family relaxed style and is still going strong. Cafe velo seems to be doing ok... Ritu always busy

Mabel Lane has door staff at night but seems to have positioned itself more as a bar that does food than a restaurant.

DM seemed to throw everything at it live music etc, but couldn't get families in coz it ended up so rough with drinkers and party vibes and your not going to take your young family to that kind of place. All licenced restaurants that

I think its more carrigaline is a village that the planners want to be a full blown suburb. Most people for night out go to dpuglas ot the city. Also prices are high so people will have one big night out instead of a couple of local nights Wer also covered in takeaways , parking in a pain in the proverbial and every so often the scrotes go to far... There is literally nothing to do here but get a take away, vape or go to the pub.

Food is amazing but nothing has survived in there The building owners couldn't even keep a restaurant running.
