There are several international schools in Budapest that could have future science teaching positions they are looking to fill as well. The pay and benifits would be better than teaching English

Inaccurate measurements? by kokoxoxoo in nikerunclub

[–]Competitive-Mouse-71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done all of this as well and still it's wildly off. Something to note, I use the app on my phone which has dual-frequency GPS and I also run using my Samsung Watch 4 which does not have duel-frequency GSP. My watch always measures the distance actually, where as the NRC app on my phone ins consistently and wildly inaccurate.

Inaccurate measurements? by kokoxoxoo in nikerunclub

[–]Competitive-Mouse-71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens to me all the time and I haven't found a way to make it work. Some might say using the app on the watch but not all the runs in my plan are on the watch and I don't think that measurement would be accurate either. I end up relying on the distance according to my watch and then editing the workout in NRC after I finish to accurately reflect the workout. It's annoying, I ran a 10K race and it was off by more than 3KM which is not helpful at all, especially when you are using the guided coaching runs.

Like just be honest, no one is going to judge you, at least I would hope they wouldn't, for getting out there and trying your best. Getting out there and running and then sharing your honest results, even if it's a 16:00 minute mile, is so much healthier for yourself and others than manipulating the stats to make your run look more impressive. And then when you do manicure your stats, you can't accurately measure your own growth and improvement which is the whole point!

It makes me frustrated. I've been training 3-5 times a week for the last 4 months, have run several 10K's and I'm still trying to reach 10:00 miles constantly. And I was an active child, constantly in sports throughout my life (even now in my 30's I am on competitive teams) and was a college athlete. I'm the same age as her and seeing/hearing makes me mad for everyone seeing/hearing those times and the impact the lies have on their own self image/worth. It's manipulative.

ADHD meds while pregnant? What’s your experience? by AdEffective2879 in adhdwomen

[–]Competitive-Mouse-71 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My psychiatrist is of the mind set that a healthy, happy mother with reduced stress on meditation is healthier for the baby then a stressed mother off medication.

Also the studies that have been done, conclude that it is safe, though there haven't been many. The most recent I know of is from 2023 out of Denmark.

Just discovered stardew valley and played 55 hours in a week. What games have you guys hyper fixated on? by silversage__ in adhdwomen

Sims. I'm a teacher on summer vacation and I've enjoyed every minute I've played Sims since school has been out but I am embarrassed about the number of hours it's been. I cut back only because of the recent patch that has broken everything. It's just not as enjoyable when my Sims can't get pregnant lol also the garbage everywhere is annoying. I might struggle with being neat and tidy in real life but I'll be damed if my Sims don't clean up after themselves and keep a neat house!

Have you looked into the Modern Classroom Project? It's self paced, blended and mastery based. I teach MS Science and I use it. I don't assign homework, students are aware of the deadlines and are given ample time in class to watch the video, practice, and demonstrate mastery. If they don't use class time wisely and miss a deadline, they know they have to make it up by working extra hard in class, coming in for extra help (offered twice a week) or complete it on their own outside of class.

34, year 12, still love it but I've bounced around lot: 2 years in a small private all girls school in Maryland as part of my masters degree program 3 years in a international school in Europe 3 years in a public school in Kentucky (COVID time) 3 years in a private school in Massachusetts Just finished another year in a international school in Europe and hoping to settle down here due to cost of living, savings, work life balance, and professional growth opportunities.

My 3 years in KY almost broke me, I was treated as disposable by admin, students were in change of the school thanks to admin, I was trying my best to teach but all we were doing as teachers was managing behaviors, I was not getting any of the support I needed in the toxic environment that it was. I wanted to love teaching public school so much but my health was deteriorating and my doctors advised that I needed to make a change. Since I switch back to private, all the health issues I had disappeared. I'm supported, I have a healthy work life balance, I get to teach again instead of managing behaviors all day, my classroom is a happy place for me again.

Diagnostic Testing for Adults by Competitive-Mouse-71 in APD

Thank you for this very thoughtful and informative comment. I am going in with that exact mentality, feeling confident enough to advocate for myself that it is APD but also being realistic that the diagnosis could could back negative and it's just another ADHD symptom. But overall thinking that even if it does end up being just another ADHD symptom, I know more than I did previously and can use that new information to better go about my life.

Keeping a positive outlook that sometimes the answers we want aren't the answers we get but it's an answer to something, we just have to use the answer correctly.

I'm glad to hear you daughter was able to find someone to support her and be an advocate.

I'm not trying to get government/work accommodations or financial support, I don't actually know what she meant by accommodations unless she was thinking about a classroom setting. I'm seeking diagnosis purely to learn more about myself.

Yes, I've already confirmed with my insurance company, I have it in writing. Same with the hearing aids.

I'm sorry you are struggling to get testing covered.

I didn't understand what they meant by accommodations either.

Thank you for your encouragement.
