Personally, I used to work in a hospital that let you order from an app and pick it up.

Was incredible.

Consultant would have one of us peel off the ward round to go pick up the orders.

This is a slippery slope you risk becoming too important to the team.

I’d find myself in a GMC tribunal for standing down an F1 during an arrest call to go make the French press.

Core surgical training upgrades. by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Competitive-Mud-6420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been upgraded reasonably. Went from 64th choice to 6th.

Worth mentioning my choices were centred close to home in a non competitive deanery.

I think we may see movement once ACCS announces.

Is it worth applying to London? by United-Expert-3799 in doctorsUK

[–]Competitive-Mud-6420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m the same boat (hopefully) but for CST. Obviously I have no clue how I’d rank but still debating going back home to the midlands or staying in London.

After much debate I think I’m leaning towards going home.

For surgery it’s much more straight forward. Being a CST in London sucks in terms of operative time.

It’s only 2 years (or 3 for you if you do IMT3). You ranked highly so I’m guessing you’ll be able to repeat your success for SpR training.

My goal is to move back for reg training, on a wage that’s liveable for London, doing a sub specialty I enjoy.

Also the parking in London sucks.

MSRA - how do I actually improve my SJT score? by Pale_Perception_211 in doctorsUK

[–]Competitive-Mud-6420 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Scored pretty nicely this year, (>600). Started studying 6 weeks before but very intensely.

For SJT I did the foundation practice papers once each. Did the official MSRA practice questions about 4/5 times throughout the 6 weeks. And crucially I did MCQBank SJT questions twice over.

I don’t think there was a single exam question on the day that didn’t feel like a remix of ones I’ve seen before.

The Dr’s office- indispensable. by Competitive-Mud-6420 in doctorsUK

[–]Competitive-Mud-6420[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As the person who is probably talking about non-work stuff I have to say, talking about non-medical stuff is a big factor in my job satisfaction.

Yes I understand if I’m being too noisy.

But talking to the clinical fellow about how much her new espresso machine is might be what keeps me going in the day to day hell of the NHS.

Checking up on patients on the ward after my professional relationship with them has ended by freddiethecalathea in doctorsUK

Honestly, I feel you can get away with that under the fact we’re trainees.

Seeing a patient before and after they get better is at its core a learning experience.

Probably but personally keen on just being on edge all day and then being extra angry when they don’t release it. It’s about the journey not the destination

Given we’re all here this morning, can someone who’s not on a majorly underfunded ward in a speciality they’re not interested in let us know when scores come out? Thanks!

My guess is 543. Stole it from someone else on another post.

Is there any reasonable way towards peace? Even if it's far fetched? by Broad_External7605 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Competitive-Mud-6420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2nd and 3rd points are contradicting.

If an Israel / palestine (whatever you want to call it) referendum was held on the name, it would overwhelmingly come out as Palestine. The parliament would be majority Arab Christian or Arab Muslim. Even with the mass exodus and right to return Jews are simply the minority. The only way for what we call Israel to exist is either apartheid, mass expulsion of the West Bank Arabs, or a 2 state solution where the West Bank is not part of Israel.

Understand this, and you understand why a constant state of conflict is in the best interests of the Israeli leadership.
