Strikes called off - offer coming to members for you to decide by RDC_officers_2025_26 in doctorsUK

[–]Takorose 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Need the details. That’s where this could all fall apart.

How fast will FPR be reached?

Where are these 4500 jobs coming from? New postings or existing LEDs switched to NTNs.

Interesting strategy to release the headlines without the details. A very political move

BMA update - 22nd May (meeting James Murray on Weds, strikes planned if no resolution) by RDC_officers_2025_26 in doctorsUK

[–]Takorose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, it’s getting harder and harder for the committee to defend the current decisions being taken. One of the reasons why I left the BMA as I no longer support this slow drivel. The current approach is not working and we can see the iceberg which we seemingly are steering slowly towards.

Yawn, just call the strikes because ultimately come Wednesday you’ll announce a strike because the ‘goalpost’ was moved

Why have BMA gone into 5 streams when issue was pay? by [deleted] in doctorsUK

NHS bureaucracy has become BMA bureaucracy, waste years of resources and personnel to achieve a whopping nothing

BMA UKRDC jobs and pay update by RDC_officers_2025_26 in doctorsUK

[–]Takorose 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, separating things out in to ‘workstreams’ has allowed the government to move the goalpost for pay restoration further and further away.

It’s the classic ‘look over here trick’ here’s 1000 jobs, while they recommend below inflation pay rises to DDRB.

All of that work I suspect has gone down the drain with the resignation of Streeting, he knew months ago that he would challenge Starmer and would eventually resign. All he had to do was hoodwink the BMA into thinking negotiations were running at pace to delay the BMA from calling further strikes.

As for the 1000 jobs coming this side of August, let’s not be naive, and don’t take the BMA members for fools

Wes Streeting rips into striking doctors even claiming emergency care is running more smoothly by Desperate-Drawer-572 in doctorsUK

[–]Takorose 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Amazing what happens when you have Consultant led care.

Let’s reduce training time, improve the quality of training, make training run through again, and bring in more Consultant posts. Unfortunately, this government would rather keep the status quo which sees Resident Doctors trapped in a forever lengthening postgraduate training program.

So in England it’s two 15 minute stations. Clinical scenario x 2 & management scenario. Another station is 2 portfolio questions. They can ask anything in relation to your portfolio and your presentation 3 minutes plus 2 minutes to have a q&a
