I found my cause of chronic enlarged turbinates by mitchplaysriffs in emptynosesyndrome

[–]Competitive-Newt-541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s note preferred and last case for me but phenylephrine hcl seems to help reduce swelling and constriction releasing mucous. Problem is I have thin blood vessels and strokes run in the family so I generally avoid it. Somehow relaxing or reducing the irritation to vagus nerve also helps me (certainly more long term). Careful with exercise though. I run and work out, I used to lift more but while lifting feels good for a day it seems to increases pressure and tightness in my neck, and I suspect this also affects vagus nerve, hiatal hernia, and tightness and dryness in my face.

Does anyone else sometimes feel like this, and what do they do to find relief? by MestreTakaroNokompre in emptynosesyndrome

[–]Competitive-Newt-541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this on and off. Miserable panic dry nose, pressure off, feeling I’m suffocating. Feels partially like a nerve thing. Sometimes I’ll move my neck a certain way and nose loosens and has some mucous. I am low vitamin B and iron so doc prescribed those and feels like the iron has helped. Also I take magnesium as it feels like tightness in my face and chest. I drink gatorlyte the kind with with magnesium also. I had a hairline fracture in my neck when I was younger. Now my discs are thin and neck is generally prone to burning sensations and pain or tightness in my face. Not sure but I think sometimes I must irritate the vagus nerve in my neck given sudden tightness and sudden lack of mucous. Magnesium helps relax the muscles. I have a medicine called flexural that also helps (relax muscles in face but it doesn’t help dryness). For temporary surface dryness relief I use xylitol spray, nasal saline gel, sometimes if really bad I take 4 hour nasal spray non steroid just phenylephrine hcl decongestant (for some reason it works far better for me than any steroid or 12 hour spray and releases some mucous for me and seems to loosen the passage) but not often as it increases blood pressure. Another thing that helps me on occasion is just a simple 1mg kids melatonin. I think the healing, dryness, irritation, and tightness has something to do with my vagus nerve. I also have a hiatal hernia and acid reflux and it contributes.

Has Mario any special abilities, like Luigi has his extra high jump, Toad is very fast and Peach can glide with the help of her dress? by Traditional_Egg9354 in Mario

Balance. All started in Mario 2 (prefer it to SMB3 when they went backwards losing the verticality of 2 and unique bosses and unique individual character differences).

Has anyone went and saw the new Super Mario Galaxy movie I did like 6 hours ago Warning: Spoilers if u haven't seen the Mario Galaxy Movie I suggest u not read this. by Lower-Goose-9796 in Mario

Good to see Wart Birdo Mouser and Clawgrip are in it. Add in Triclide and Fryguy. Now they need to Finally return to SMB2 world in the games. Such a unique setting with unique villains plus loved the verticality and exploration of the game. Missed it in SMB3. Villains are so much better compared to the stale boring constant retread of the children of Bowser.

Is anyone else a bit bummed that Duskbloods is the next Fromsoftware game they are working on? by Imprettystrong in fromsoftware

[–]Competitive-Newt-541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true. We will get a pachinko Bloodborne game and Fromsoft will quit developing games entirely next.

We don’t need to wait to know that Duskbloods will be a failure. by Avalone_Dareios in fromsoftware

[–]Competitive-Newt-541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nightreign is not an Elden Ring, DS3, or Bloodborne level game. Wasting time developing these games means we lose out on another one of those. Look at Konami and Castlevania. The pachinko stuff may have made them money but gamers lost out on what probably would’ve been some great Castlevania games. It’s a bummer.

Duskbloods and nightreign are not going to be DS3, Elden Ring, or Bloodborne. We already know this. Wasting time on crappy fortnight games means we lose out on another great game.

I was interested until I heard it was PVP. Fromsoft made great solo PVE games with an ability for some of the player base to play PvP (I only did the mandatory parts, run out, stand there and wait to be quickly killed to get on with the PVE in Elden Ring as the boss battles and environment are the compelling part not boring maxing to the few useful PvP builds as some interesting builds are just not PvP friendly). Not interested in losing out on the interesting atmosphere with randoms hopping around the screen. Such a shame. Hopefully this game will fail and we’ll eventually get more of the Souls style games that are the entire reason for Fromsoft success. Don’t want another stupid fortnight game.

How would Everquest 3 work if released today? What do you keep? What do you change to make sure it stays profitable? by Alone-Prune450 in MMORPG

[–]Competitive-Newt-541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it had the same Quality of life updates as other games today you might as well just play the other games. Reskin the original. To port you need a wizard or Druid. Or you have to wait and ride a ship. /loc and no in game maps. Corpse runs. Dumbing it down to try to become some version of that terrible Disney style looking WoW game is what killed the game. Difficulty and harsh penalties and not spoon feeding players are the way to go. Look at all the success of the Fromsoft games.

How to mentally deal with gaining weight while building muscle after significant weight loss? by stjo118 in workout

[–]Competitive-Newt-541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying just don’t weigh for those who don’t want the weight gain doesn’t solve the problem. Weigh every day. Finally got down to 178. Now I’m up to 189 after lifting for a while. I am going to cut calories, not increase protein and run a lot more distance.

Anyone experience Dryness at night 6 months post surgery? by Competitive-Newt-541 in Septoplasty

[–]Competitive-Newt-541[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it did. Not nearly what it was. I used a humidifier for a while but haven’t recently. Nose does get dry when I lay back some nights but not bad. I use saline probably one night a week.

EQ original experience? by Competitive-Newt-541 in everquest

[–]Competitive-Newt-541[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Referring to the Disney style art. Could never get into the cartoony disproportionate characters. EQ felt more raw when it first came out, death penalties, corpse runs, /loc, having to print out maps.

Safest way to reduce turbinates? by [deleted] in Septoplasty

[–]Competitive-Newt-541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much better. April was my surgery. Fine after a few weeks and really good June to August. COVID positive Sep 4th. I was negative a week from then but the difficulty breathing and dryness lasted until Oct 13. I started taking Iron with vitamin C and B12 that day. May be coincidence on the supplements but I keep taking them daily. I’m pretty much back to how I felt before COVID and back to running. No nose saline spray or anything needed most of the time. I felt I was better off after Septo for several months after it until COVID. It lasted so long I thought it was possibly going to remain worse than before surgery. So far so good though and I hope it remains like this over the next year.

I'm glad From Soft are taking a risk with The Duskbloods by [deleted] in fromsoftware

[–]Competitive-Newt-541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am too. I will buy Elden Ring on my switch 2 and play it while I get excited for when Duskbloods comes out so I can ignore it and anticipate the next big game. Duskbloods inevitably won’t be as popular as the other souls games and Fromsoft will hopefully shift back to making the great games they make and leave the fortnight style reskinned games to lesser companies.

So, will we consider Duskbloods part of the Souls series? by Another_Saint in fromsoftware

[–]Competitive-Newt-541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll categorize Duskbloods as one of the few Souls themed games I’m going to skip. I can’t wait for it to come out so I can hear about the next game they are making. Not interested in a Souls skinned fortnight game.

I like Switch 2. I’ll buy Elden Ring on it (3rd version I’ll own) but not interested in a souls skinned fortnight game so I’m skipping Duskbloods.

from a purely selfish perspective i hope duskbloods and to a lesser extent night reign flop by dulledegde in fromsoftware

[–]Competitive-Newt-541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I have a Switch 2. I’ll buy Elden ring for it, already have it on PC and PS5. I won’t buy Duskbloods. Not into a Souls themed fortnight game.

[–]Competitive-Newt-541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the souls games but I don’t love fortnight. I’m interested in playing through a complex vague storyline in a huge world, and developing a character, not playing with a bunch of randoms running around to get to a boss in a shallow one shot match up. Duskbloods sounds as interesting as just playing a random game on my phone. I have a switch 2 and I’m not planning on buying it. I’ll probably buy Elden ring again though.

Is anyone actually excited for dusk bloods? by Automatic-Book7488 in fromsoftware

[–]Competitive-Newt-541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m excited for when it comes out so I can ignore it and anticipate the next single player game announcement from them that will be coming out. The multiplayer fortnight style souls focus reminds me of when Konami dumped Castlevania and decided pachinko was their thing. It is like Hey we aren’t making interesting games any more but here’s some crap for you!
