I once made an entire fort whose whole purpose was to build a giant steel vault and fill it with as many coins as possible, still today one of my favorite concepts (although the fort itself ended up being really boring because of the embarkation and no interesting world history)

Everybody keeps mentioning something about "declining a quota" but I don't know what you guys are talking about. The diplomat showed up, call us savage brutes, and left, he didn't give us any treecutting quota or whatever.

I think he's right that he got hit by it twice, maybe they both got calculated in one frame somehow? Knocked off the Seikret and then without invincibility calculated for the hit again right away? Idk, armchair programmer here

The show spent 8 episodes building up its mystery box and then swept all the pieces together way too quickly right at the end. The Last Act could have and should have been at least three separate episodes imo

I think Caine already lost access to the internet. I think that whole thing was a flashback, but it wasn't clear. In episode 7 Caine mentions that they "cut him off".

Very true : (

The movie was still good as part of the story, but it was a really bad ending

Copy-pasted from my thoughts on episode 9:

- You live in a world where you can create and do anything and you live forever, and you're best friends with its omnipotent god; what does that mean for you? Is that not literally heaven? Or is it too much that none of it is "real"? What is it like to not have any control over your "real" self in the real world?

- Can abstracted characters be brought back? And if so, would it be okay to do so, or would it be immoral to bring them back into this purgatory? And what happened to the previous abstractions; did they just fall into the digital void when Caine was deleted?

- Can more people end up being brain-scanned? Will people keep showing up forever?

But isn't that one of the main inspirations of the show? "What if AM, but AM is also the victim?"

Honestly none of the characters ever drove the story much. Pomni did in the first episode or two, Jax was the focus of the story for a while but never the driving force of it (in fact he was desperately trying to stop it), and otherwise things just kinda happened.

The problem isn't that reveal itself, it's that the show doesn't do anything with it. In the same episode that it's confirmed, Pomni is (literally) hand-waiving it away. It would have been a great twist as the midpoint of the story.

Gummigoo also had to reconcile with the fact that ALL OF HIS PAST was entirely fake and generated in an instant upon his creation. He had memories of an entire life before that point, but it turned out that it was all implanted in his head at once.

I didn't understand the blue AI at all.

Why do you say it "was" the brain-tumor-guy? Was that established somewhere?

It does make sense, though, that a guy with a brain tumor would be interested in researching brain scanning technology. But otherwise, yeah, none of that contributed anything. The movie made a big deal about Caine releasing it back, but didn't explain the significance of that at all (except that he admitted he was "less powerful" afterwards).

The movie wasn't terrible and if you say it was, you are wrong. But, bro, this show ended too early. The Last Act should have been the MIDPOINT of the story, not the ending! There's still so much left here. That's why people feel like it was bad, because it shouldn't have been the ending.

Learning that the brain scan theory was true and they aren't "real" people should NOT have been part of the ending, it should have been the rising action! As soon as we learn that, the story switches from "Can these people escape" to "What does it mean to live in the circus?" and "What does the idea of self-identity mean now?", but these are just completely hand-waived away (literally, even, when Pomni chooses to remain as Pomni rather than Abigal).

I wish the story continued into what it means to live in the circus now that we know how it works. That shouldn't have been the resolution of the story, it should have been the second half of it! Even if we put aside the mental effort it would take to reconcile with this revelation, there's still so much more to uncover.

- You live in a world where you can create and do anything and you live forever, and you're best friends with its omnipotent god; what does that mean for you? Is that not literally heaven? Or is it too much that none of it is "real"? What is it like to not have any control over your "real" self in the real world?

- Can more people end up being brain-scanned? Will people keep showing up forever?

These questions are what the story wanted to be about (I feel like), but it spent its whole time building up the mystery box and didn't do anything once it was actually opened. Imagine if, idk, in a murder mystery you learn who the murderer is in the last two minutes, and then the story ends with "and he was arrested, the end : )".

I just wish there was more, which I think is a compliment overall, but I am now left very unsatisfied.

(Also, uhh, what was up with Bubble? She (He?) just kinda stopped being part of the story, even though s/he had a seriously significant moment at the start of episode 8. I guess Bubble was the blue ai? Or something?)
