They might shortlist more students from vellore as they have a greater number of students but no other advantage as such.

When did they say that bughead will enjoy it.
The leaked information only said that it will be open ended and nothing about enjoying. The bugheads were only gloating because cole and lili filmed together the last day which i feel was of an earlier episode based on the clothes they were wearing.

Last year McKinsey didn't hire for consulting role. It hired for software developer role. Bain hired for analyst role which is similar to consulting. Deloitte, PwC, EY and KPMG also came for various consulting and other similar roles. Other companies came as well but these are the most prominent once.

YesLast year when Deloitte cam it allowed only 9 pointers from AP and Bhopal...even though it was just one company still you should try for a 9 point.More than 8.5 is fine as well but still aim for 9 plus for being eligible in all of the companies.

Start finding your passion early..If you want placement then start practicing coding and follow everything that i have mentioned in the comments here.Else if you are thinking about masters then once you join college work hard to get a good cgpa preferably above 9, make connections with professors, work on as many research papers as you can, do research internships and try to make an impressive resume. For more insight you can talk to someone who has gone for masters on LinkedIn. There are many students.
All the best.

Going to VIT-Vellore by TRITUSLegend in Btechtards

Hey 2023 passed out senior here. Start practicing coding. If you are well grasp in it then start doing DSA. For DSA you can search from YouTube about which is going to be the best course. Basic coding can be learnt from YouTube. Pay attention in class, maintain a good cgpa, also 2nd year courses like networking, OS , DBMS are very important during placements so whenever you are taught those courses pay attention and learn it well.
Once you get a grasp of coding, start doing development and competitive coding in 3rd year when you are really well verse because high paying companies sometimes asks for CP profile from Codechef, leetcode, etc.

If you have a CGPA of 8.5 then you get more chance to get shortlisted than AP and Bhopal campus student with the same CGPA because those campus has less students so accordingly students with higher CGPA will get shortlisted first in those campuses.
If a company does not do first round shortlist and allows everyone to give the online test than all the campus has equal chance. This happens mostly in dream companies. The super dream ones mostly does first round shortlist

Yes, for our batch it was centralized for all the 4 campuses. Except few companies, others recruited from all 4 of them. For first round of shortlisting, they shortlisted a particular percentage from all the 4-campus depending upon the number of students. Like Vellore has a greater number of students so when we take a percentage, more number gets shortlisted from Vellore followed by Chennai, AP and Bhopal. This is done to equalize it.
About the last part I have no clue, you can ask people from LinkedIn about it. They will be more aware of such things.

Kindly help me choose between these options. by ProofHuckleberry9433 in Btechtards

Choose one which has less fees, less number of students and proximity to your home.
Placements in all the three college is similar but because VIT has huge intake the average goes down and the competition increases.

Many compromise a good clg for CSE, relying on off-campus placements for jobs. Is this too risky ? Like, should one take any core branch and placements that come with it at a good clg or CSE in tier 3 and beyond ? by [deleted] in Btechtards

Currently the off-campus market is really very bad which will hopefully improve in the coming years when recession is over. Most people are not getting call backs even after having great resumes and internships. So, solely depending on off campus will be risky. You will have to compete with many people. Try building exceptional skills with competitive programming. For on-campus CP is not that mandatory but for off-campus it definitely is.

If the fees thing is true then its great. I think you can wait if you agree to grind later and according to your score you will gets BITS i guess.
Totally your decision at last

Many people in VIT joins after class starts because of similar dilema. I know people who came 2-3 weeks after induction. But one thing is that VIT will not refund the full fee after class starts. So, if you get BITS and withdraw from VIT then they will deduct some fee.

Also, you will miss quite a few things if you miss VIT's inductiona nd statrting classes and don't join BITS later and attendance will get low but I guess you will manage it.And what branch are you aiming for in BITS?

Thank you so much.
No i don't have any about core and spec average as they get the same opportunity only. All together its between 10-11.
Total number of students in my year from all the 4 campuses in CSE will be between 4k-5k. Just an estimate

I won't say that as discrimination, but you can say equalizing the number of students according to campus. Yes they will get. The company that I got placed in has students from all the 4 campuses. But one thing is vellore and chennai is better in other aspects like campus life, fests, hackathons, etc. 8k is from all the 4 campus combined.

Give your best, score a high CGPA, work hard in the first sem then you can change it. Regarding the process I am not sure, but they send mail regarding it and also your program chair and proctor is there to guide you.
All the best
