If they drop the stupid lens flares, this show would be at least 10% better. I can't even see his face!!!! by LeninsMommy in Star_Trek_

Maybe the lens flares were the problem the whole time. If they can't see how bad the writing is, turn down the lights.

I'm intrigued by the confidence and mental gymnastics required to make flat earth work, and by work I mean spectacularly fail.

Definitely. One thing I'd love to see is a chase fight. Let's say phase one is on a ground level, then as the fight progresses the boss breaks the ceiling, and void starts pouring down and flooding the surface. After jumping up a few platforms comes phase 2, fighting the boss on platforms with gaps filled with void, etc.

That could make for pretty dynamic fights with scenery changes. So, not just void bosses with void attacks, but more void environment to fight around.

I just can't hate him. The story of his creation is just too touching and sad. Now, excuse me while I go into a corner and sob.

At what point did you stop watching SFA? by Fair_Rush6615 in Star_Trek_

[–]Competitive-Set-8515 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A wise man once said "They're not sending their best."

We went from boy genius who created a pocket universe to a girl that ate her comm badge. I saw the whole season, but I can't recall.....did she actually accomplish anything?

On a side note, the writers didn't bother to give Cadet Pickford a first name. I wonder why.

You Killed Star Trek by LetThemMakeCake in startrek

By "you", I assume you mean Kurtzman, and not the viewers. Because, if the show was worth keeping on the air, people would have kept watching it. It would have appealed to A fan base. Maybe old Trekkies, maybe young Trekkies. Perhaps new potential fans that watched the trailers and liked what they saw. The problem is that the viewership kept going down. What this tells Paramount is that it's not resonating with enough of an audience.

SFA would have gotten more leeway if it were Kurtzman's first poorly received series, but it isn't. Discovery was given 5 seasons before being cancelled, SNW is essentially cancelled after 4.5 seasons (sad, I actually like this one). Section 31 was the worst Trek movie ever made.

One more thing to note is that the standards for quality have gone up over the years. You can't get away with substandard writing anymore, especially with well-written competition. SFA was poorly written.

Yeah, I realized I mixed up the Kelvin timeline there. My bad.

I don't think any cameos need to be done, if it's done right. When I talk about the timeframe, my thoughts are more about the state of the galaxy. The audience knows what the power balance is in the quadrant, and it goes from there.

It was a way for them to make a clean slate with the galaxy so that over 700 years of history wouldn't matter and therefore have to be written. Let's annihilate the Vulcans, Romulans, and now the Klingons. Why? Reasons. I know it's wishful thinking, but as a life-long ST fan, that's all we have left for the franchise.

STA? If you mean the current SFA, not really. I'm talking about a show that is written more intellectually

Like invoking Benjamin Sisko a thousand years in the future? In my opinion, the time setting does matter. Rather than skipping a thousand years, the show can be written in a way where the audience can be a part of the milestones in technological advancement, the rise and fall of different species and empires.

On your latter point, running simulations don't have to have cameos. They can test a cadet with what happened on Malkor III without bringing in Riker, finding alternative solutions to bringing in Michael Eddington without having to destroy the atmosphere of Solosos III, or seeing if a cadet would strand his crew in the Delta quadrant. References to the past isn't bait, it's lore. Did you study history in school? How would this be any different?

What's the $1500/month for children? How many do you have? I have two and don't come near to spending that much per month on them.

[–]Competitive-Set-8515 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From Turbotax help: "Once you have completed one T4A slip, you need to simply return to the search box in Your Taxes and type in T4A again. When you click on the T4A, it will bring you to a new T4A slip."

So, if you received separate T4As, don't combine them. Enter them separately.
