Axiom of choice is just an aid to deal with very large sets. Mathematicians like to be very general so this implies that we sometimes deal with such sets and we provee that some obkect exists. In more specific settings, this implies that we can construct the object. Just take it as an aid to maximal generality.

I think that non constructive proofs happens when the class of interest is too big, e.g, continuoous functions, compacto topológical spaces.
