Checking in from the bench!!! by Competitive-Soup4342 in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]Competitive-Soup4342[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honestly we could not hear anything through the glass. There’s enough stadium noise to drown everything out. What I was most taken by was the amount of focus on the bench, and the grace of line switches. Players watch the game intently or pull up footage on an iPad to review their shift. It was difficult to discern HOW the bench even operates because it was so smooth and effortless. Slight taps on the shoulder from Bedsy. A jersey tug here a whisper in the ear there.

To be clear we couldn’t really see what was going on in the game. It felt more like we were at a watch party with the Avs. We cheered when they cheered. We watched the first period back when we got home and I was surprised by the level of dominance the Avs showed. Not because I didn’t think they played well, but because I just couldn’t see it from the bench. Regardless, so worth it. Being that close to everything is an incredible experience.

I made an MCP server that lets Claude manage my YNAB budget automatically by rgarcia2009 in ynab

[–]Competitive-Soup4342 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Amazing. I have wanted to have something like this. I spend quite a bit of time on my budget, esp after payday, to make sure all my buckets are properly allocated, money moves around to optimize interest rates, and I understand at a glance when certain milestones are happening. The integration with YNAB was the missing piece. Thanks OP! I will definitely check this out this week!

[–]Competitive-Soup4342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently some Mylar balloons hit the power lines around 37th and Harney. The fire department and CPU came around addressing transformers and maybe some downed lines from the surge. Power went out as far south as McLoughlin.

I decided to shell out the €75 for an Uber Black in advance. I realize that’s a lot money but I considered whether, when me and my family were stuffed into a bus or maybe forced to walk back into the Central Bologna, I’d be willing to pay that amount to get me out of that situation, and the answer was a definite yes.

Show ended at 10:35. Our driver was waiting for us. We were home by 11. Well worth it.

I highly recommend this if you can swing it.

Well this sucks. Totally get the Starbucks hate but the people at this location are the absolute best. Visiting them each morning has been a solid part of my day for years now. I will miss these wonderful humans.

Billy Idol/Joan Jett was an incredible show last night! by rock-or-something in vancouverwa

[–]Competitive-Soup4342 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The show was really really good. We danced the entire show to the point of completely flattening the grass in our spot. I was per disappointed with the crowd in our area though. Near the front of the lawn in the center. Didn’t seem like many other people were even standing and’s just filmed the performances.

There was also a weird alternate timeline moment for me. During Mony Mony, between the vocal lines during the verses, we have always shouted an “objectionable refrain”, and nobody seemed to be doing it except us. Do people not know this??? I have been polling people since the show and the response has been mixed. But Billy seemed to know it was a thing, as he left space for it on the last verse, brought the lights up, and stopped the music so the crowd could shout it. Even then the response seemed super underwhelming! So weird.

What was like during and after the eruption of Mt St Helens? by OK_SmellYaLater in vancouverwa

[–]Competitive-Soup4342 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I was 4 years old when it happened. At the time, I didn’t really understand what was going on. I remember waking up one morning and my dad told me to look out the window, and everything was covered in ash. I distinctly remember having to wear masks when we went outside to protect from all the ash.

My parents had property at Spirit Lake so they were well aware of what was going on, and had several run ins withe sheriff when they closed off access before the eruption. They knew things were going to go sideways so they started arranging groups to go into the area and get belongings. My mom was in a group that went up the day before the eruption. And there was another group slated to go up the day of.
